✨ It’s time to celebrate our Shelter Staff of the Month… GRACE! ✨

This month, Grace helped 18 shelter babies find their forever homes! When she’s not working her magic at the shelter, she loves snuggling up with her own shelter pups, binge-watching TV shows, playing video games, and going on road trips—she’s already been to 25 out of 50 states! 🚗💨

We asked her: “What is one thing you would like to say about shelter dogs?”
Grace shared:
“They all deserve another chance. They've all been let down who knows how many times and there's not enough people willing to give them life again. I feel like a big part of that is the misguided perspective that all have ‘issues’ or are problem dogs. With a little training, love, and a whole lot of treats, every single one can be the most dedicated companion.”

To anyone looking to adopt, Grace says:
“Any dog you want, you can find at a shelter for 10x the loyalty at a fraction of the price.”

We also asked her why she chose her job, and she told us:
“I’ve always wanted to work with animals. They are really my only passion in life. Of all the animal-related jobs I feel like here I can make the most difference in each of their lives.”

Grace wanted to highlight one of our amazing dogs—Meet Astro! (Located in the 2nd and 3rd picture) 🌟
He’s still up for adoption and his recall is amazing! He knows “sit” better than the back of his paw, and with his unlimited energy and love for water, he’d make an incredible hiking or adventure companion.

Due to ongoing renovations to some of our kennels, our shelter capacity has temporarily changed. We appreciate your understanding and continued support during this time.
If you're looking to adopt a new pet, we have many wonderful options available! Or if you can open your home to a temporary foster just let us know and we can recommend several! We work with many local rescues and if they have a foster THEY CAN PULL from us!!
If you know someone who is missing a pet, or if you yourself are missing a pet, please visit the shelter for a walkthrough.

This right here is what we are “Thankful” for❤️ We are so thankful for our rescue partners that fall in love with these broken souls and they literally bring them back to life.
Albert came to us this summer. He was emaciated and had multiple bite scars and wounds. In just a few short months he is a completely different dog and is the sweetest and most gentle soul! Thank you Animals R Family for giving Albert a chance💕

Starting Saturday, you can stop by our front office and grab an ornament with a dog or cat from the tree to donate toward their holiday wish list! 🐾✨

Lexington County Animal Services will be closed for Thanksgiving and Black Friday. We’ll resume normal business hours on Saturday, November 29th at 9 AM.

Keep your pets safe this holiday season!

🚫 Many foods, spices, and fatty table scraps can be unsafe and even dangerous.
🏡 Give pets a quiet space to retreat if guests or noise become overwhelming.
💜Make sure microchips are up to date and ID tags are visible, just in case an open door leads to an escape.

A little preparation goes a long way toward a happy, safe holiday for everyone!

A huge thank you to Officer Occhipinti for going above and beyond for one of our four-legged neighbors! 💙🐶

When a local pup was found without a warm place to rest, Officer Occhipinti stepped in without hesitation—making sure the dog received a cozy dog house to sleep in and stay safe. Acts of kindness like this remind us how much compassion can change a life, even for our furry friends.
