Tilly Update 5/25:

Tilly is coming home tomorrow. 🀎

It’s not the outcome we hoped for and that the UGA team worked so tirelessly to achieve, but it’s not the worst outcome either.

Once the defect from the amputation was fully healed, the vets began to try to enter her cerv** again. The goal was to gain access to her uter**, drain the infected fluid, lavage it fully and then add a stent to keep things open for good.
Unfortunately, the multiple attempts to enter the cerv** were unsuccessful. The final attempt resulted in another puncture into the abdominal wall. Thankfully it was small and will heal quickly, but if they continue to try to get in, it will become dangerous fast. There is just too much scar tissue built up to try to proceed. Any future attempts carry a major risk of additional punctures into her abdomen. If a puncture occurred near the infected uterus**, it would allow pus to enter her abdomen which would be fatal. The drainage/lavage/stent plan is no longer safely possible.
The UGA team said this has been a very difficult and very unique case.

I have communicated with multiple veterinary professionals and everyone agrees that the best option is to bring her home and let her live her best life for as long as we are granted with her.
We are going to do some follow-up checks and intermittent antibiotics, but the vet team is not able to give me a time estimate for Tilly. There is a chance that this won’t really affect her and that she will live for years to come. There is also a chance that my worst fears could come true. No one knows.

The team is telling me to let Tilly enjoy her normal life, let her exercise like normal, let our farm kids love on her and just take it a step at a time. I know her best, so I will be able to tell if she seems off or if she has a decreased quality of life. Right now they said she is fat, healthy and happy. She is not sick, she is not in pain and her life is not currently in jeopardy. So we are going to enjoy every day with her that God grants us while also praying that we have years to come with her.

It’s been a very long 5 months and so much money that I’ve lost track.
I have shed many tears over the situation, but this is very clearly what the Lord has ordained for Tilly. I have to rest in that.

I’ll update everyone once she is home! 🀎

These horses are going to be the end of me. 🫣 Jk but seriously I cannot handle anymore emergencies!!

Pepper colicked tonight. I’m thankful for staff members who noticed something was off and let me know early enough to intervene.

Lots of walking, emergency vet contacts, meds, etc. and I think she’s out of the woods. But we just can’t seem to catch a break around here. πŸ˜³πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜©

Tilly Update 5/19

Waiting, waiting and more waiting.

I haven't shared an update because there really hasn't been one. 😞 Because of the defect cut that occurred during the amputation, Tilly has needed more and more time to let that fully heal before the team could check her uter** to even start the lavaging process. It was finally healed enough for them to check today.

Unfortunately the cervic** adhesions were so severe that they couldn't get into her uter**.
They will try again tomorrow and will potentially make a cut to get inside.

I almost started crying inside the grocery store when I hung up with the vet. It's just been such a long journey and we seem to have made no progress. I'm getting worried that we might run out of options. But the Lord is holding Tilly in His hands and He knows what's best for Tilly as well of the end of the unknown story.

We will be hosting a Tilly Thank You Event once she is healthy and back at home with us. This will give donors a chance to come meet Tilly in person, visit our farm and meet all of our animals in person. 😊
We will host the event in June or July…the date will be determined by the timeline of Tilly’s healing.
Each $25 donation will receive a ticket for 1 person to this event! So donations of $50 get 2 tickets, etc. (babies aged 1 and under do not need tickets-they are free)
Typically tours at our farm start at $70, so this is essentially discounted entry for our donors!
No raffle this time! A donation secures a ticket. It’s that simple! 😊
Donations for entries into the giveaway can be made through Venmo, PayPal, CashApp, Apple Pay, cash or check.
If you donate through one of the apps, PLEASE be sure to add a memo mentioning Tilly. If you donate cash or check, PLEASE write a note with it so we know that the funds are for the giveaway! If you donate anonymously, we won’t be able to enter you into the giveaway because we won’t know whose name to enter. πŸ™ƒ

Thank you so much for helping us help Tilly! 🀎

Mystic tried to leave the earth last week πŸ«£πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜‘

She had a bad case of choke. I treated it with all the things (this isn’t my first time dealing with choke) but she didn’t improve so I had to call the emergency vet.
Thankfully they got her sorted out and she is fine.

But WHAT a scare. 😳
If I could have just one week without a major vet bill, that would be awesome. πŸ€£πŸ€£πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

As you can see, she is clearly very remorseful about freaking us all out.

Yay for horses πŸ΄πŸ˜‚
