We've shared a lot about Pope's gun dog journey over the year, and those who know us know it's been exactly that—a journey.
So to say I'm proud of this kiddo is an understatement.
This weekend, Pope not only earned his Senior Hunter title (finally! 🎉), but also passed his very first Master test. Across five series between the two tests, he ran without a handle and lined all five blinds.
I've always known Pope was an incredible marker. The blinds? Those have always been his kryptonite.
Not anymore.
A huge thank you to Mark at Marsh Dog Kennels. There were times I had doubts, but Mark never did. He believed in Pope, stayed patient, put in the work, and never tried to change who Pope is. He simply figured out how to bring out the best in him.
And maybe most importantly, he loves Pope like we do.
Anyone can train a dog. Not everyone takes the time to understand one. Mark has celebrated the wins, worked through the setbacks, adjusted when needed, and always shown up for Pope with patience, consistency, and genuine care. As owners, there is no greater gift than entrusting your dog to someone who sees their potential, values who they are, and loves them enough to help them become the best version of themselves.
Finding the right fit—the person who believed in him as much as we did—has meant everything.
This sport is full of lessons, and one of the biggest is that progress doesn't always happen on our timeline. Sometimes it takes patience, trust, humility, and the right people in your corner.
We're incredibly grateful for the village that's helped get Pope here. This weekend was about more than titles and ribbons. It was about watching a dog step into his confidence and show everyone who he's capable of being.
Thank you, Mark, for never wavering, for believing when it would've been easy not to, and for loving this goofy, talented boy like he's your own.
Good boy, Pope. 🖤
