Affectionately known as Gunner currently in the barn (JC: D’Pistol) has retired from 8 starts (last in Feb 2025) He is an affectionate horse to handle, enjoys being groomed and bathed, trailers, cross ties, stands for vet, farrier, etc. Gunner recently competed his first recognized event at Beginner Novice where he gained more and more confidence during the show of all firsts for him (environment, warm up, new show fences etc) successfully completing willingly and bravely with just two green rails added to his dressage score and finishing in the ribbons! He would excel with a rider who is looking for a talented, athletic type partner, because of this he is not suitable for a nervous beginner. He will jump anything if the rider is confident and supportive! Goes all phases in a snaffle and currently in front shoes.

Nothing but pride for all 3 of my rides this weekend at Hoosier HT! Each of them debuted their first time in their respective level, had double clear XC rounds and ribboned!

Ernie moved up to Preliminary, finished 6th with the proudest confident XC round where he felt game on from the start and brave to every hard question, making them feel easy plus being one of two to go double clear! Nothing like being on a TB who knows and loves the sport now and making the future so exciting!

Up to the Mark, owned by Avenir Farm, finished in 2nd place in his first Training, double clear in all to finish on his dressage score! Compliments follow him around the show as the classiest stallion!

D’Pistol completed his very first show and only improved and gained confidence in every phase! He bravely jumped everything , much of which was brand new to him and only adding two rails to his score but coming out a newly minted Beginner Novice show horse who shows true talent to develop! He is for sale and also eligible for RRP 2026!

I feel lucky to pilot these talented horses around and thankful they trust me they way that they do.

Equally proud of HH students who came and competed- all of which also had double clear XC and finished in the ribbons!
Ashley competed her brand new horse who successfully navigated the starter with ease and looked great in their new partnership finishing 6th!
I got to catch coach Alexis and her new horse who moved up to Novice finishing 8th!
Jena finished the starter on her dressage score and won 🥇 after putting in all the hard work to deserve the win!

Ernie came out this season more eager than ever, ready to get back to work and tackle every question in front of him! We went into Windridge HT without even a XC school before and he proved he remembered everything and then some as he ate up the course! So many highlights of a great feeling overall, a personal best dressage score, a (too) bold SJ, and a XC that felt easy the entire way around. But a bigger highlight this weekend was driving around South Carolina to find somewhere to watch the Derby.

Cherie DeVaux, , was who connected me to Ernie (JC Intent) years ago (thank goodness for that day!) so I of course made my one and only bet on her and Golden Tempo. Watching them WIN was simply incredible in every way. The first woman trainer to win the Derby and here she is “liking” the video of Ernie in my story the very next day says so much to her as a trainer, even years later in after care post track for one of her horses. Congratulations to her and all involved, you had a group of eventers screaming at the tv at a mexican restaurant and moments like that that remind you how small and connected the horse world really is—from the biggest stage in racing to the aftercare journey that brings them into our world.

Huge congratulations again—what a ride, and what a moment for the sport and breed.
