🍀 Meet Cookie & Cache 🍀


Cookie (black & white hooded) and Cache (black w/ white tummy) are super sweet young ladies, estimated to be around 4 months old. We were very glad to see these girls come to our rescue rather than be surrendered to a pet store. Cookie is extremely outgoing and loves to participate in anything and everything that you're doing, while Cache prefers to get pets while inside her enclosure. These ratties would be an excellent pair for a first-time adopter, as well as making the perfect additions to an established mischief.

UPDATE: Thanks to the help of The Pipsqueakery, we are able to get all of the rats out of the hoarding situation. Poet and one of our volunteers are heading to the owners house now to remove the rats and transport them up to Indiana to be spayed/neutered and vetted. Once they're recovered they will be available for adoption through various other rescues, ourselves included.

We truly appreciate everyone who reached out interested in adopting these critters. They will still be available soon, so please keep an eye out if you're still interested. In the meantime, we're bringing ~ 20 already altered rats back from The Pipsqueakery that will be available for adoption immediately. Pictures coming soon! 📷

Hi y'all! We were recently contacted about a rat situation. Just yesterday we had someone reach out with over 100 rats (including werewolf, naked, silvermane, and harley lines) who need homes pretty immediately to prevent them being used as feeders. If anyone would be able and interested in taking in a pair or more, we'd love to assist in finding these ratties homes any way possible. Please feel free to reach out if you'd like to adopt!

LOCATION: We are working with Animal Control in the owner's county to facilitate the removal of the rats from the owner's home. We are located in the Lexington, KY area. Due to the circumstances, we are willing to drive up to 1.5 hours for an adoption and further for any other rescues able to assist with the situation.

GENETICS: These are pet quality rats that were being bred as feeders for the owners raptors, which have already been removed from the home. Due to the situation, we cannot verify the lineage or genetics of these rats, and while we never allow pets adopted from our rescue to be used for breeding (as stated in our Adoption Contract), that is exceptionally the case with these rats due to potential inbreeding.

Additionally, if any other rescue has space to help us get these animals out of the home to then be adopted out, please reach out. We're happy to assist with transport as well.

🍀 Meet Dino Nugget 🍀


Dino Nugget is a hybrid dwarf hamster, estimated around 6 months old, who joined our rescue when his prior owners were considering taking him back to the pet store. Like many dwarf hamsters, Dino has a bit of cage aggression, which led to him nipping his previous caretaker, who was a child. Since in our care, Dino has done wonderfully with taxi handling, and he will accept pets when he's having free roam time outside of his enclosure. Dino’s antics are a blast to watch every night, and he'd make a great companion for someone willing to respect his home boundaries.

🍀 Meet Cricket & Ponderosa 🍀
Cricket and Pondi are rather unique and unexpected residents here at our rescue, as we don't typically care for reptiles! Thankfully, one of our stellar fosters was able to take in both of these gorgeous leopard geckos.

Cricket is around four years old and was originally adopted from a pet store. He is a mild mannered little guy, who can be prone to eye infections from his substrate.

Pondi is six years old and was adopted from a leopard gecko breeder. This handsome boy’s beautiful colors and friendly temperament are one of a kind!

Join us for a meet-and-greet!

Clover & Kids Small Animal Rescue will be at Pet Supplies Plus (Lexington - Palomar location) this Saturday, June 14th, from 12-2 PM. We will have a few adoptable animals with us, and we’d love for you to stop by to meet our pets.

Pre-approved adopters may arrange with us to meet/pickup pets at this event, but everyone is welcome to come say hello. Pet Supplies Plus is running a raffle and several giveaways all themed around small animals. Come support our pets and a local business!

Baby Update 🎉

We've officially had these rambunctious ratties in our rescue for two weeks now, and it's almost time to officially introduce them! All eight babies are cuddly, healthy kiddos who love to play, and they're days away from being weaned at 4 weeks old.

These kiddos are a month away from being available for adoption (8 weeks old), and in the meantime, we'd like YOUR help to decide what we should call them! Check out our stories to name a baby rat 🍀

To support the care of these babies, please consider donating. As the baby rats grow and we watch for signs of pregnancy from Mom and Big Sister, we anticipate our food consumption almost doubling in the next few weeks!

Currently, we go through about one 2lb bag of Mazuri lab blocks every day or a 25lb bag every two weeks. We are always in need of Mazuri blocks, Higgins Sunburst, and chew toys. Any support makes a huge difference ♥️
