Some things to help you prepare:

*Put collars with tags on your pet.
* Take a current picture of your pet.
*Ensure all doors and windows are secure.
*Play music or white noise for your pets.
(We turn up the volume on our TVs)
*If your pet requires medication, set your alarm as a reminder.

Have a happy and safe 4th!

For over a year now, our shelter has consistently been at capacity, and the situation isn't improving. Just this past Wednesday alone, 42 stray animals were brought in to LFACC. 42 in ONE DAY!

With the July 4th holiday around the corner, we anticipate even more animals will end up at our doors. But you can prevent that from happening by reading the graphic below and following these tips to keep your animals safe during the upcoming festivities.

If your animal does go missing, please contact our Animal Services Dept immediately at (859) 255-9033 ext. 233 to file a report. Other helpful steps include updating your animals microchip information, putting up lost pet flyers in the community, and posting to the Lost and Found Pets of Lexington, KY page.

High winds can do more than mess up your hair. Central Kentucky is currently under a High Wind Warning, so keep your pets safe!

Double-check that your fence and gates are secure before letting your animal outside. If you are going for a walk, ensure your pet is wearing proper ID tags and that you have a good grip on the leash as blowing items could spook them and make them bolt. Avoid leaving animals outside unattended, if possible.

If you have lost or found a pet, please contact our team at 859-255-9033!
