This entire situation is truly awful. Do not take in any poultry or waterfowl of unknown origin or from anyone that may be associated with this situation. If something seems off about a transaction, too good to be true, free birds, or whatever it is and you believe it’s related, do the right thing and report it. There have been reported attempts to remove evidence (poultry, waterfowl, etc) and the diseases deceased birds have tested positive for are both forms of Mycoplasma, with other pending necropsy results. If it’s as bad as what I’ve heard, this is not something to treat or manage. Absolutely not a thing to be playing chicken or duck hospital with. Look out for the health of yours and your neighbors flocks. Warn others.
“Investigators further testified that several animals required emergency care, that additional animals later died due to their condition, and that disease testing revealed contagious poultry illnesses, raising concerns about broader agricultural and public-health risks.
Prosecutors also alleged that Pickett attempted to rehome or conceal animals after the investigation began – a claim Pickett disputed during the hearing.”
