📢 Important Update from Grit Equine 📢
As horse owners, we understand that communicable diseases are an unfortunate but manageable part of equine care. Transparency and responsible management are key to keeping our horses safe, so we want to provide accurate information regarding a recent development at our farm.
As of 2/5/25, we have been notified by a treating veterinarian that a horse at Grit Equine has tested positive for Equine Herpesvirus-4 (EHV-4). This horse is considered at extremely low risk for further transmission, as she:
✔️ Is fully vaccinated
✔️ Has not left the farm in the past four years
✔️ Has had no outside horse contact through her owner
Following the guidance of our farm veterinarian and the treating vet, we are implementing biosecurity protocols and quarantine procedures to mitigate any risk of spread. Since our founding, Grit Equine has committed to requiring annual core and risk-based vaccinations for all horses on the property, which is essential to disease prevention.
We appreciate the support and cooperation of our boarders, farm owners, and service providers as we navigate this situation with care and caution. Until further notice, Grit Equine will be closed to all guests.
If you have any questions, please reach out directly so we can ensure everyone has the most accurate information. Thank you for your understanding and commitment to equine health and safety.
