If you think surgical photos are interesting, please feel free to look at the pictures! These pictures are of an adult dog who was not spayed and developed a closed pyometra. This condition is a life threatening infection of the uterus that occurs about 1-4 months after a heat cycle. In this case, these owners acted quickly, and went to the local emergency clinic when they noticed she wasn't feeling well. Due to the urgency and risks associated with this procedure, the cost is very high and affordability is often a concern so they wanted to transfer to us. Luckily, we were able to get this sweet, sweet girl in to the hospital, and do emergency surgery over the "break" in our day. We are happy to report this little lady did great and enjoyed a smooth recovery. She is back to doing all her favorite things! 💜
