🦌 Texas Hunters: August To-Do List
✅ Purchase your 2026-2027 Texas Hunting License (Available August 15).
✅ Complete Hunter Education (Before opening day, if required). If you were born on or after September 2, 1971, you generally must complete Hunter Education or qualify for a one-time deferral.
✅ Apply for Public Draw Hunts (Deadlines vary by hunt category.) The first application deadlines are August 1 (Alligator, Private Lands Dove, Guided Exotic Hunts, etc.) and August 15 (Archery Deer, Archery Mule Deer, Javelina, Pronghorn, etc.). Additional categories have deadlines on September 1, September 15, and later dates.
✅ Add HIP Certification (When you purchase your hunting license if you'll hunt dove, ducks, geese, or other migratory game birds.) This isn't a separate deadline; it's obtained as part of the license purchase.
✅ Purchase any required endorsements or stamps (Before the season for the species you're plan to hunt.) Examples include the Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and Federal Duck Stamp for waterfowl hunters.
