First snowfall at Puppy Steps Training means a brand-new learning environment for our puppies — and that’s a big part of their development!

❄️ Why snow is great for training:

• New textures & temperatures: Snow introduces cold, uneven footing, which helps puppies develop body awareness and confidence on different surfaces.

• Boosts sensory learning: The scent and sound changes that come with snow help sharpen a puppy’s natural curiosity and adaptability.

• Great for recall & focus: When the world gets exciting, practicing cues like come, sit, or stay teaches puppies to stay engaged even with distractions.

• Short outdoor sessions build resilience: Positive exposure to new weather conditions helps prevent fear-based behaviors later in life.

The puppies are discovering snowflakes… mostly by wearing them on their noses.

Fun fact: dogs have special heat-exchange systems in their paws that act like natural snow boots! And snow days are perfect for training — new textures, cold surfaces, and exciting smells help build confidence and adaptability.

Every flurry is a chance to learn, explore, and grow. 💛
