Mounted Archers of the Potomac Mounted Archers of the Potomac is a horseback archery club serving the DMV area.

MAP is a club for horseback archers in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area. We train our members' horses for mounted archery, and instruct students in rapid fire archery techniques on the ground, so that they are ready when we put them on one of our trained horses for the first time. You do not need to own a horse to participate, as many of our members are generous and willing to share th

eir horses with new members, because our enthusiastic love of the sport means we want to encourage more people to experience it.

After two days of form correction with the coaches of the Némethy School. One of the important rules we learned was that when you nock your arrow incorrectly, don’t fix it. Instead, start over, so that you train your body to only load correctly, and don’t train muscle memory for improper loading.

We had a great demo this afternoon at Frying Pan Farm Park’s Horse Expo! Thank you to everyone who came out to volunteer at the show today, to Applejack and SP for being great mounted archery demo ponies, and to the great audience at Frying Pan! We had a great time talking to visitors at our booth, and we’re excited to see some new faces at our upcoming intro clinics.
