We love updates
Hi there! This is long overdue, but I wanted to send you an update on Suki — Sunny Skies Leading Lady Five, named after dad, Reagan (Scatter Creek’s Leading Man MH), and mom, Cami (Sunny Skies Category Five).
I brought Suki home to the Seattle area in October 2024 when she was about 11 weeks old, and somehow she’ll be turning 2 this July! I truly cannot believe it. As someone who grew up with Labradors and Lab mixes, I thought I knew what I was getting into, but no one could have prepared me for the love, comedy, athleticism, and absolute chaos that is Suki.
Since coming home, Suki and I have completed four obedience classes together, including one where she earned her AKC Canine Good Citizen certification. She is incredibly smart and has passed every class with flying colors, though one of her trainers lovingly described her as “politely disobedient,” which is probably the most accurate description of her personality I’ve ever heard.
Unsurprisingly, she LOVES fetch, has great recall — especially when there is a ball involved — and would swim every day if she could. She loves bully sticks, actual sticks, sniffing every blade of grass like it contains classified information, and being involved in absolutely everything I do. She is a true velcro dog. Seriously, what is privacy anymore? 🙂
I suspect she would have preferred a life of hunting and retrieving, and would excel at it, like dad, but she has adjusted well to her very difficult city-girl lifestyle of love, treats, snuggles, and being spoiled with trips to the park almost every day.
She made lots of human and dog friends.
Anyway, even with the chaos, she is so loved and a huge part of my life. I’m very grateful for her — even when she is loudly sharing her opinions with the entire neighborhood.
