A lot of people think a dog getting greasy or smelly a couple days after a bath means the groomer didn’t wash them well, but that’s not what’s happening. When a coat gets oily fast, it’s usually the skin trying to compensate for something like buildup, compacted undercoat, the wrong shampoo at home, overbathing, or even diet and allergy issues. I can get the coat clean, but I can’t override what the skin is doing underneath.

A fresh bath doesn’t fix the root cause if the cycle keeps repeating. Healthy skin produces a light, protective oil, while problem skin pumps out too much too fast. If your dog smells again right after a groom, it’s not a grooming failure. It’s a sign their skin needs a little more support and the right routine to stay balanced.

If this is happening with your dog, please let me know so I can adjust my routine and choose products that better support their skin. If your dog has chronic issues with this, it’s best to check with your vet to see what can be improved.
