Today.............
Was your last car ride
Was the last time we would kiss each other
Was the last time I could smell you
Was the last time to touch you
Was the last time to tell you I love you
Was the last time to hear you bark
Was the last time to watch you suck your baby
Rufus was so much more than just a dog, the bond we shared was like no other, he was my life for 10 1/2 years. He took a BIG chunk of my heart today. He was my sidekick and I saved him from being euthanized from a Texas Shelter but really he rescued me, if he only knew I always needed him more than he needed me! It is gonna take a lifetime for this pain to heal. I want to thank everyone Animal Aid for loving our Rufus over the years. A very special shout out to my wonderful sweet caring husband Adam Segal, he is taking this just as hard as iam! When he married me, he married Rufus too! Please if I don't answer your calls, text, or messages, it's because we need our time to grieve. Rufus forever will be in our hearts forever!

No amount is to small!

Please we need prayers for Rufus!!! When I got home from work Wednesday January 11th he could not get up, he could not walk at all, his back feet are knuckling over. We rushed him to the vet. I know I don't post in here anymore due to the rescue closing 3 years. But wanted to update on Rufus, the mascot of the Rescue, the face you have looked at for years on our logo, shirts, hoodies, card, and etc. He is almost 11 years old, he was pulled from Irving Texas Shelter by me 10 years ago, well unfortunately his degenerative disc disease has took for the worst, when I came home from work on Wednesday, he was in the floor and could not move his back legs, we rushed him to the vet, he is on pred & muscle relaxers and a chiropractor has been coming to the house at night. He can still wag his tail, he has feeling in his toes and he can still potty on his own, so this gives us hope. We just ask for many many prayers and I just wanted to let everyone know because we know how many lives this boy has touched and how he was a BIG brother to many of the pit bulls that were rescued by us!

Please everyone send Carissa Theobald some encouraging words and prayers! UT has diagnosed Rudy with cancer and it has spread to his organs. They are bringing him home and giving him lots of love with their family and letting him eat a cheeseburger, nuggets, and a vanilla shake! He has had an amazing life with Carissa and has seen her through good and bad times. RUDY was 1 of our first rescues in our first year of Break The Chain Pit Bull Rescue, he is a very special boy and I will never forget him. Carissa we are so sorry you are having to deal with a pain like this! R.I.P Rudy and we love you both!

I will be taking this page down soon due to all the messages that come through for dogs needing homes and etc...this is really hard for me to due because this rescue was a BIG part of my life for almost 6 years and we have saved about 500 pit bulls. This is like closing a chapter in my life. We closed the rescue about 1yr 1/2 ago due to my husband passing and my life definitely has took another path...for the good, iam remarried to an amazing man and living my life for us now! I loved rescuing and it was very rewarding to me and i feel it kept me going at times. I want to thank everyone that fostered, adopted, transported, and donated your time and etc! Iam most grateful to everyone that adopted from me and changed the lives of the dog you adopted forever! That was the most rewarding part was to see one of my rescue pitties get their forever home! Thank you all from the bottom of my heart, Leslie

Breed Bans Do Not Work!! ALL DOGS SHOULD BE JUDGED BY THE SITUATION, NOT THE BREED! If we put restrictions on dogs like muzzle in public, can only go to the vet, and etc we are setting dogs up for failure, they need socialization from born to 6 months is most important! If the county can't in force a LEASH LAW AND DOGS BEING NEGLECTED, they CAN'T IN FORCE A BAN ON DOGS! THIS DOES NOTHING BUT HURT THE GOOD DOGS AND THE PEOPLE THAT TAKE CARE OF THEIR DOGS AND ARE RESPONSIBLE PETS OWNERS! It's not fair for MY dog to be judged just because he is a certain breed!!! How would you like to be judged/banned in society cause you have blonde hair, the colors of your skin, if you have tattoos or piercing, what kind of car/truck you drive, and it goes on! We gonna ban vehicles, people are killed in vehicles more than a dog attack but LOOK it's the person driving that car JUST LIKE IT'S THE PERSON ON THE OTHER END OF THE LEASH THAT'S DANGEROUS! IF YOU BAN THIS BREED, THE IRRESPONSIBLE AND LAW BREAKING CITIZEN WILL JUST GO TO ANOTHER BREED! SO I ASK PLEASE DON'T BAN MY BREED IN MADISONVILLE, MY DOG RUFUS IS A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE! PLEASE COME OUT TO THE FALL FEST THIS SATURDAY 18TH in Madisonville Tn from 10 to 6 AND GET EDUCATED!
