We had to take a quick trip to Rapid City. Got in a short hike before checking into the hotel.
Because of Pepita's post hike bath we also had to stop at Target to buy some towels to clean her off.

We will all sleep well tonight.

Our first Bingo Night was so much fun, and a big part of that is due to the fantastic prizes our winners take home! As we start planning our next event, we're reaching out to our wonderful community to ask for your help.

Would you be willing to donate a prize for an upcoming Bingo Night? We're looking for a variety of items that would appeal to our diverse audience, such as gift baskets, local business gift certificates, handmade crafts, or new household items. Your donation would be tax-deductible and would help us continue to make our Bingo Nights a successful and enjoyable fundraising event.

Bingo night was SO MUCH FUN. We can't wait until next week.
We raised $800 for the Sanctuary!
The progressive pot is off to a great start: $400. It will continue to build each week of bingo play until September 14th when we draw.
Make plans to join us on Wednesdays this summer for bingo, pizza and prizes.

Ruby (on the left) passed away last night.

She was a sweet pig with a mind of her own! Always first out of the gate at recess and ready to explore the grounds.

After the recent loss of Turtle, we are keeping a close eye on everyone.

Let's hope these things don't come in 3's. 🥹

Turtle was a sweet and sassy sheep.
He came to the farm as a 4H refugee. The girl that raised him and showed him at the fair didn't want to see him auctioned off and butchered.

So we took him in.

His first day with the goats and pigs was hilarious. He sprinted and hopped around like only sheep can do. He was pure joy.

It was around February when he started exhibiting issues with his re**um. Show sheep have their tails docked which can result in this very issue. Turtle's prolapse had been repaired once before he arrived at the farm. Unbeknownst to us, the sutures were still in place and a large amount of scar tissue had developed.

Over the next few months I made trips to the vet and the vet made trips out here to put Turtle back together.

But we couldn't save him. 🥹

On Thursday afternoon we put this sweet animal to rest.

It's taken some time for me to process this. I'm sad.
Why do we do this to animals?
