An aquarium gives your mind something called soft fascination. It holds your attention without demanding it, which is exactly the state that lets a tired mind recover. Engaging enough to draw you in and calm enough to let you rest; few things do both.

A line of sensors down each side of a fish lets it feel the movement and pressure of the water around it. It is how a school turns as one without anyone watching the leader. They feel the water the way you feel a touch.

Shrimp climb out of their own bodies. To grow, a shrimp splits its shell, or cuticle and walks out whole, leaving a perfect empty copy behind. People find the shed shell all the time and think their shrimp has died. It hasn't, It just grew too big for its own britches.
