Brumation Season!
Stage 2: Cooling Down!
We’ve officially moved into Stage 2 of our brumation process here at M.S. Farms Exotics!
With Stage 1 complete, our breeders have already spent approximately two weeks without food while maintaining normal temperatures, allowing time for digestion to finish before cooling begins.
Now we begin gradually lowering our rack temperatures by approximately 1°F per day over the course of about two weeks, working toward our planned range of 70–75°F.
As temperatures decrease, our geckos metabolism begins to slow. During this transition, we may notice reduced activity, less exploring, and more time spent resting as their bodies respond to the seasonal changes.
Even during cooling, fresh water remains available, and we continue monitoring our breeders closely, paying attention to weight, hydration, and overall body condition. Every gecko responds differently, so their health and well being remain our top priorities throughout the process!
For us, brumation is part of maintaining a consistent seasonal cycle within our breeding program. While it isn’t necessary for every gecko, it’s a practice we’ve incorporated into our annual breeding preparations.
We’re not quite in full brumation yet! Stage 2 is all about a gradual, controlled transition before moving into Stage 3: Full Brumation!
Follow along as we continue sharing our brumation process and preparing for the 2027 breeding season!

Hump Day! AFT-PAIR-02!
Another exciting African fat-tailed gecko pairing planned for the 2027 breeding season at M.S. Farms Exotics!
AFT-18: Tangerine Amel Patternless
AFT-2414: Tangerine Patternless 66% poss het Amel
This pairing brings together two beautiful Tangerine Patternless African fat tailed geckos, and I’m really excited to see what these two produce!
What could we produce?
* Tangerine Patternless (100% het Amel)
* Tangerine Amel Patternless (if AFT-2414 proves het Amel)
Since both parents are visual Patternless, all offspring are expected to be Patternless!
Amel is a recessive trait, meaning both parents must contribute the gene for visual Amel offspring to be produced. If AFT-2414 proves het Amel, approximately 50% of the offspring could be visual Amels!
My biggest interest in this pairing is seeing how the rich, deep orange coloration of the Tangerine Patternless interacts with the lighter, peachy orange coloration of the Tangerine Amel Patternless!
I’m hoping to produce offspring with vibrant orange coloration, beautiful patternless bodies, strong structure, and color that continues to develop and hold into adulthood.
Since Tangerine is a line-bred trait, color intensity can vary between offspring, making it especially exciting to see how these two lines complement each other!
And with the possibility of producing Tangerine Amel Patternless offspring, there’s even more to look forward to!

Hump Day! LEO-PAIR-04!
Another exciting pairing planned for the 2027 breeding season at M.S. Farms Exotics!
LEO-94: Melanistic Tangerine 66% poss het Tremper
LEO-25125: Blood Black Night 50% poss het Tremper, poss het Eclipse
This pairing brings together Melanistic Tangerine and Blood Black Night genetics, and I’m really excited to see how these two lines complement each other!
What could we produce?
* Melanistic Tangerine Blood Black Night Crosses
* Melanistic Tangerine Blood Black Night Cross Trempers (if both parents prove het Tremper)
Since Melanistic Tangerine, Blood, and Black Night are line bred traits, the results can vary considerably between offspring.
My biggest interest in this pairing is seeing how the rich orange coloration of the Melanistic Tangerine interacts with the darker pigmentation of the Blood Black Night!
I’m hoping to produce offspring with deep, rich coloration, bold patterns, strong contrast, and a beautiful balance between orange and dark pigmentation.
Both parents also have possible Tremper Albino genetics, which adds another exciting possibility to this pairing if they both prove het!

Hump Day! LEO-PAIR-03!
Another exciting pairing planned for the 2027 breeding season at M.S. Farms Exotics!
LEO-83: JMG Blood Black Night Cross het Tremper
LEO-25126: Blood Black Night Cross 50% poss het Tremper, poss het Eclipse
This pairing brings together two Blood Black Night crosses, and I’m excited to see how their genetics complement each other!
What could we produce?
* Blood Black Night Crosses
* Blood Black Night Cross Trempers (if LEO-25126 proves het Tremper)
Since Blood and Black Night are line-bred traits, the results can vary considerably between offspring.
My biggest interest in this pairing is seeing how the darker pigmentation, rich coloration, bold patterns, and contrast develop in the next generation!
There’s also some potential Tremper Albino genetics to explore, which could make this pairing even more interesting!
