Whether in life or your business....find yourself a motto you can submerse the core of yourself or your business into...and mold every action around staying true to that belief.
I received a call from a customer who was a little over a month beyond the warranty term for her Mouse exclusion. I take a lot of pride in the length of care I take in assuring a proper seal to hopefully last a lifetime. Whether it's in the tools that I buy, the materials that I use or the lengths I go to get to that one spot that maybe someone else wouldn't see or work hard enough to get to I always give 110%. Not only is it good for business but I believe it's good for your soul. Needless to say I made a couple of visits free of charge just to assess what had happened. Upon inspection I noticed the temporary stuffing of copper meshing that is placed in that common bulkhead Gap that you can't permanently close because it's an access point, had fallen out through use and not been replaced back in. I also noticed one of the inner trim pieces of their siding had been chewed through completely allowing access into the Attic. This is why I give a warranty because let's face it chewing back in is always a possibility. That's why upon closing a house and knowing that no more mice are getting in I use an all-natural repellent to stop them long enough that they have to seek other shelter areas. Typically this is a problem fixer for that issue but occasionally things do happen. The customer did sign up at a substantial discount to reinstate another 6 months warranty and cover the next couple of visits to figure out what was going on. Well today was my fourth stop back and I was still catching mice in the same location yet everywhere else is great. So I head back outside and wouldn't you know it some of their composite decking had come loose and raised the hollow columns on their back deck that reach up to the overhang on the house allowing access down through the wall. 4 weeks ago these chew marks were not on the column because the decking had yet to snap for whatever reason. The moral of the story is find someone that cares more about being successful for you and in turn with you and how much money they walk away with. I find honor that my word needs more to me than the thickness of my wallet. I feel blessed to be in a situation that allows me to put actually caring over the "all mighty" dollar. I have included a photo of the first and second chew in for visual reference :) and as a side note all black foam is trimmed back to be pretty upon completion.
