It's a good day to clean out your semen inventory! Donate your unwanted sheep and goat semen to the RSG Foundation.
💲The foundation will provide you with a receipt for your donation. If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim a charitable deduction for your RSG Foundation donations.

❓What will happen with your donation?

The RSG Foundation is establishing a Gene Bank where breeders unwanted genetics will be offered to those just getting started breeding sheep and goats.

Grants will be provided to young producers wishing to utilize the donated genetics to improve their programs.
Genetics will also be offered in an online catalog format, providing access at a discounted price. All proceeds go back to the RSG Foundation for funding Youth Engagement and other programs.
Some genetics may be used for educational and research purposes by the foundation.

🐑🐐 Tuesday Tip from RSG
Protect your lambs and kids early with CDT vaccination.

CDT (Clostridium perfringens Types C & D and Tetanus) is one of the most important vaccines you can give young lambs and kids. These diseases can strike fast—often with little warning—and can be fatal without protection.

Why CDT matters:

🛡️ Helps prevent overeating disease (enterotoxemia) and tetanus

🍼 Critical during rapid growth and diet changes

Best practice:

Give the first CDT at 4–8 weeks of age

Follow with a booster 3–4 weeks later

Ensure dams are properly vaccinated pre-lambing/kidding so colostrum provides early protection.

Important: Always read the specific vaccine’s label for exact age, dose, route, and timing, and consult your veterinarian — some brands or situations might have slightly different instructions.

RSG clients can order CDT from www.myanimalRX.com

🐑🐐 Tuesday Tip from RSG

Colostrum is the first and most important meal a newborn lamb or kid will ever receive. Because lambs and kids are born without antibodies, they rely entirely on colostrum to build immunity, stay warm, and get a strong start.

🔑 Key reminders:

✅Ensure every newborn nurses within the first 2 hours of life

✅Colostrum quality and absorption drop rapidly after 12–24 hours

✅Weak, chilled, or multiple-born babies may need assistance or tubing

✅Stored frozen colostrum can be a lifesaver during busy lambing and kidding seasons

A good colostrum program means healthier newborns, fewer losses, and stronger performance long-term. Planning ahead makes all the difference.
