Chicken Nugget and Gang

Chicken Nugget and Gang Rescue & Sanctuary for small & exotic animals.Support, when possible, for any animal. We have an adoption Center now 117 W Elm St, Lebanon. He is a treasure!

Open Sat 10-4, by appointment other days:).β™₯οΈπŸ“πŸ°πŸΎπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸΉπŸ¦” I adopted Chicken Nugget from an animal rescue group named A Critter's Chance in January 2016. I went to the farm to pick up 4 bunnies to foster. He was the only tiny bantam rooster running around all full sized chickens. He was kind of following us around and I asked if I could pick him up.(I knew nothing about chickens) 'Sure, if he will let

you'. He not only let me, as we walked around he fell asleep in my arms. Deal breaker....Chicken Nugget was a stray that was picked up. Poor Guy had mites and his crown was frost bitten. I can't imagine that people just dump defenseless animals. At least have the decency to take them to a humane society or rescue group. He has now been part of our family for almost 8 months. He sleeps in his coop outside, but several nights during the week I bring him in and hold him for hours, while I watch tv, work, etc.

Help! I received a call that s rooster was dumped at Marian University's EcoLab in Indianapolis. I cannot take another rooster in right now, even temporarily due to my injury. Can anyone take this well behaved handsome guy, even temporarily??
If so, please message me directly or text.

It's so sad this stuff still goes on. Kudos to her for making this video. Crazy they can't even bother to sell the correct supplies:(.
It makes me crazy the fairs give them as prizes. No live anything should be given as a prize!

Even though I was a total klutz and crushed my ankle, help for animals hasn't stopped! The move to our bldg has definitely helped slow things down, also, but here's a little recap:
- Our pal Steady Eddie wasn't working out at his new home but we had him in foster home within 24 hours after finding out. He's doing great!
- We took in sweet Jeremy same day after finding out about his emergency situation. Our dear Darlene always helps me on last minute emergencies. But, he's already in a home doing a trial, and things are looking really good!!!
- We took in a parakeet from IACS.
- A Momma bunny and 3 babies that were dumped.
- Adopted both Pit mix cuties
- Adopted the 2 b/w sibling kittens together
- Adopted Momma Star and her kitten Comet together
- Daisy is on a trial and hoping it works out for her to stay.
- Chico and Bella were split up and in excellent foster homes getting some much needed training.
**Obviously, this all could not be accomplished without the help of Volunteers, Fosters & Adopters! Thanks to you all!β™₯️

Hi Friends of Nugget,
So, everything has been moved from Elm St to new location. We still have to clean out the storage unit, yuck. Plus, some repairs need to be made before turning in keys. But, so grateful to everyone that helped get this done. I did have to hire help, but it had to be done. This ankle injury has really made things difficult.
The new building is coming along well, lots of organizing and set up still to do. And, once we can get that done I can get the rest of the bunnies and kitties over there so they're all in the same space. It is definitely a plus that the new bldg is only 2 miles from home!
With all of this said, I hate to ask but we could really use some donations. We have $2k in Vet bills (does not include upcoming appts.) I have spent more than I want to admit on help with move, etc. and new bldg supplies. If you prefer to, we always welcome paying the Vets office directly.
Also, definitely always looking for Volunteers to help with organizing, cleaning and animal care so I don't have to pay someone. β™₯οΈπŸˆβ€β¬›πŸ πŸΎπŸ¦œπŸ“πŸ’πŸΉπŸ¦ŽπŸ¦”πŸ°πŸ

β™₯️🐿 Thank you for the information Critter Corner!!

We have been receiving messages from people about squirrels that they think are/might be in distress or injured. If you see squirrels around that are laying like this, more than likely they're not injured. This is known as "splooting" or "heat dumping". It's where squirrels, and some other animals, lay flattened on the ground or other places to exchange excess heat to lower their body temperature. It helps to cool the animals down. You will see this behavior especially in the summertime when it's really hot out. πŸ₯΅πŸ₯΅πŸΏπŸΏ

The Chicken Nugget and Gang Story

I adopted Chicken Nugget from an animal rescue group named A Critter's Chance. Fritz and I went to their farm to pick up 4 bunnies for me to foster, and help out. He was the only tiny bantam rooster running around all full sized chickens. He was following us around and I asked if I could pick him up, (I knew nothing about chickens). 'Sure, if he will let you'. He not only let me, as we walked around he laid his head on my shoulder and fell asleep! Deal breaker!! (I think Fritz’s exact words were, β€œOh S@#t, we are taking a chicken home”)

Chicken Nugget was a stray that was picked up by someone and the rescue had just taken him in. The poor little Guy, (less than 1 pound!), I can't imagine that people just dump defenseless animals, at least have the decency to take them to a humane society or rescue group. He has now been part of our family for over two years (adopted January 2016). He sleeps in his coop outside, he always looks out for his peeps. He is loving and kind, but also a strong soul. At least, one night during the week, I bring him in, feed him special treats, and hold him for hours, while I watch tv, work, etc. I won’t lie, sometimes (OK, almost every time) we both fall asleep. He is a treasure! He (and his Family we have created) showed me that chickens are very smart animals, and can even be pets. They also deserve to be treated humanely!

In February of this year (2018), I made our rescue efforts official, and formed Chicken Nugget and Gang, Inc. It was only fitting to name it after the dynamic Chicken Nugget!

We are a small (start-up) Rescue, Sanctuary & Support group. We will work hard to support β€˜Friends of Nugget’ which are other Rescues that we know do a great job of caring for the animals that they work with. We have many exciting ideas and plans in the works!
