We’re New Leash On Life - Home of The JOY Clinic, and we’ve been an animal welfare non-profit here in Lebanon, TN, since 1978. We take pride in our pet food pantry and The JOY Clinic. We started this business because Wilson County was in need of an animal shelter. We are the first humane society in Wilson County. Our hope for the future is that there will be no unwanted, unlo

ved or abandoned dogs or cats. We will continue with our aggressive spay/neuter campaign and our pet owner support programs in the hopes that all dogs and cats can find loving homes or stay with their loved family. We strive to help dogs and cats in Wilson County, TN and across the Middle Tennessee area. We’d like to personally invite you to make an appointment to stop by and meet your new best friend, today! Welcome to the neighborhood, VGM Group, Inc.!

Our friends at VGM Group, Inc. have officially moved one of their offices right down the street from us here in Lebanon and they’ve already made a huge impact!

Each quarter, the VGM Community Giving committee chooses organizations to financially support, and this quarter… they chose us! 💙 They donated $5,000 toward our current Paw Pantry matching campaign, helping us provide food to pets in need all across our community.

We were honored to join the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce for VGM’s grand opening and ribbon cutting and had so much fun bringing along a few adoptable dogs to meet the team and check out their new space.

In the last year, the Paw Pantry provided more than 6,000 meals to pets in need. That’s hundreds of families who didn’t have to choose between feeding themselves or their dog or cat and thousands of animals who never entered the shelter system.

💃 Meet Cha Cha – 10 Pounds of Sass in a Fur Coat 💃

Cha Cha is an 11-year-old Shih Tzu mix who’s living proof that dynamite comes in small packages. At just 10 lbs, she’s basically a travel-size queen you can carry from throne to throne (or, as you call them, “dog beds”).

Here’s the royal tea:
👑 Selective socialite – Cha Cha doesn’t hate other dogs… she just believes not everyone is worthy of her presence. She’s improving in the diplomacy department, but she still reserves the right to side-eye at will.

Blanket connoisseur – She has a PhD in Cozy Studies and will test every blanket in the house for fluff quality.

Treat snob – Only freeze-dried beef liver, thank you very much. Anything else? Into the moat.

Tongue-out icon – Her signature look is half runway model, half “I just woke up like this.”

Cha Cha’s dream home?
A loyal human servant (or two), a constant supply of luxury bedding, and someone who understands that in her world… you work for her.

Thank you to the amazing REI Co-Op team who took the day off from their own work to lend a hand around the Adoption Center! 💚

The REI team tackled fence line cleanup, organized storage units, and even sorted and stocked food for the Paw Pantry. Their energy and teamwork made a big difference for the pets we serve. 🐾

When Rocky first joined our Adoption Center, he needed to lose 40 pounds… and guess what? He’s only 10 pounds away from his goal! 🙌 Check out his amazing before-and-after photos — proof that a little love, a healthy plan, and a lot of butt scratches can work wonders.

We are so touched to see our friend Sherry decided to celebrate her birthday by giving back.💛 She set a personal goal to raise $200 and every dollar she raises will help us meet the $20,000 match from Tito’s Handmade Vodka, the Vodka for Dog People, for our Paw Pantry campaign.

This isn’t just about dollars, it’s about impact. It’s about making sure no one has to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their pet. It’s about keeping families together through hard times.

We received the most adorable update from a family who joined our Reading with Cats program:

“We wanted to say thank you for allowing us to read with cats this past Saturday. We had a wonderful time and hope to do it again soon.” – Macy, Steven, and Elli Lane
