Britton Family Mini Rex

Britton Family Mini Rex We raise Mini Rex Rabbits for 4-H and show with both ARBA and 4H.

As you see, our page is going through a lot of changes. We have decided that since Kaydyn is now involved heavily with the animals and wanting to show and he is now the judge and executioner on what animals stay and what animals will show etc we have fully turned our entire process completely over to him to help build his 4-H and ARBA image.

From this point on our show team will be shown by him. Now, me and his mother obviously are divorced and have been for almost decade lol so sometimes shows don’t happen on his weekends with me, in those rare occasions I will show different animals than what he will be showing. Just to keep our name out there.

We are looking at building up our hobby and this is the beginning. My only goal is to show my boy how to make his own plan and see it through. I want him to know how to build quality cages if he needed one. I want him to be able to make his own feeders if he needed some so a 3D printer is in the works. I want him to know how to make his own money the right way and show him every aspect to this hobby I have enjoyed for a long period of time.

Every animal that finds a new barn from us and every fertilizer sale and every cage we build for someone. Every bit of those dollars will now go back into his program. This will be how he enters his rabbits into shows. How he gets materials to build more cages etc. this not only teaches him accountability as not everything will be perfect in life. But it will teach him to work for the things he needs and wants. Something ironically I never was taught.

Rabbits in our household isn’t just farm animals or profit. They are family until they leave our barn. That being said when we do have animals searching for new barns we will aim to build strong mentorship’s and build friendships rather than focus on “the bag” meaning we will make sure we don’t overprice our stock, sale to just anyone, and we will let go of rabbits with the hopes of building more mentors who can help us along the way also. We are the type to give a kid who wants to get into ARBA and or 4H showing a free trio to start just to build the hobby we love up and put us in a more competitive environment at our own local shows that we attend rather than focus on how much we can make off it.

I raise my son to think of the bigger picture. This switch in our rabbitry has a meaning. Every thing I worked for since I was 16 years old is now his. I would love to see more families involved and help grow the hobby as whole.

We are proud to watch Kaydyn grow in this. With help from our mentors such as, the Freudenthal family, Klinger family, Hawt Fur rabbitry, and amazing lines that feature some of the best such as ARS we feel confident in what we have in the barn. We can’t wait to see yall at shows! If you see us make sure to come say hey to Kaydyn as this will be his first official season as a shower and now a full on Rabbitry owner!

We also make cages, we make them to teach my son how to do them. We don’t do this as a business. Currently we’re making Grow Out cages (they do not stay in these long, just until they reach a certain age). However we also make much more.

He has learned to make stacker cages 3 holes and up to 3 holes per level with each cage being 24x24.

The build in this photo is 48 long 24 wide with 1 ft compartments. 4 holes. Once they reach a certain age they would be in cages 24x24x48 at 2 holes per level.

If anyone is interested in any builds just message us. Prices vary per unit your wanting. We don’t charge out the rear as this isn’t what we focus on business wise, just something that goes back into the 4-H and ARBA youth program for my son who’s 13.

(We also can do solid dividers)

A price for what you see in this photo for one set of 4 holes would be $125 for 8 holes would be $225 (teaching him to spread some cheese on crackers here lol cutting a little deal of people wanted more)

This week we will be going through our entire herd. Going through all the kits coming out of boxes, and our current breed stock etc. the goal is to hard cull. Meaning we will have a lot of animals looking to make an impact at other barns. If you are interested in getting into showing for 4H or ARBA we can definitely help you out with a starter trio etc.

Sadly this little buddy didn’t make the 6 week evaluations and is now 👀 for a forever pet home.

In my opinion this little buck is long in body. He is sweet once you handle him enough. He is out of Chayse Creations Lilly (Black Otter) X Chayse Creations Blue Steel (Blue, 2 BOV)

A week picture apart in our Smoke Pearl litter.

This litter is extremely important to our shaded program. We lost our herd buck Klingers 711 now 2 winters ago during the storm. Since then I’ve yet to be able to produce a smoke.

If this litter does not go in our favor that’s fine as we now have 7Gs Hawthorne but! This picture is a day one and Day 8-9 comparison.

At first they seemed like a for sure Smoke litter. Now as we go, I’m not entirely convinced it is lol. One of the little guys is darker than the others and one is lighter than everyone else. So we will see!

Not gonna lie we could use more blue in the barn 🤷🏼‍♂️

Finally!!

Chayse Creations FIFI (1BOV) X Chayse Creations BB2 (2BOV)

This breeding has been one we have been trying for since the start of winter. With a location move along with a feed change in between our work was grounded to a halt.

Thankfully we have kits out of our 2 BOV winners from our last season, breeding our best Doe to our Best Buck to see if that could help us going forward.

FIFI is a first time mom. Let’s see how it goes.

Our rabbitry is looking to donate rabbit droppings by 5Gallon Bucks and Burlap Bags to our local school Greenhouses. If you or someone you may know might want to help us out with this project any 5 Gallon bucket or buckets in general would be greatly appreciated. If other rabbitries want to pitch in on this idea that would be awesome as well.

The goal would be to show the next generation an alternative to the normal every day fertilizer they were raised on and show them a fertilizer they can use on their own garden and farm and save them money by growing the animal themselves.

The other side of this goal is, once these kids learn that rabbits are useful for more than just stew, more kids would want to raise them, my plan is to help as many kids as possible find their way into a 4H or ARBA show.

Please share and help us out!!

2/4 litters we currently have in boxes. We had planned to do shows earlier this year however the breed program started to a slow crawl. We anticipate our show season to start around July or August. We might take a few of our older ones before then but ATM a 7-8 hour drive seems a bit absurd to show like 3-4 lol. 😂

She isn’t gonna be the best in the room by any means. But to us? This doe tells us we’re at least heading in a good direction. If you followed us in the past, you can tell that little by little we are getting better.

Excited to see what she can produce in the future. I’m thinking of putting her with Hawthorn who compliments a lot of the traits she’s not so strong in and he’s better in traits that she is well at. So I’m hoping for a good outcome.
