2-Week Update: Milestones: Pictures are of Paisleyβs puppies in this post...
Eyes Opening: Between 10 and 14 days, their eyes will begin to open. Vision is still blurry initially but clears up over the next week.
Ears Opening: Ear canals begin to open, allowing them to hear their mother's voice and environmental sounds.
Mobility: They transition from army-crawling to getting up on their front legs. By the end of this week, they will start using their hind legs, though they remain wobbly.
Growth: Puppies gain about 10% of their birth weight each day and will easily double their weight by day 10.
Care: At 2 weeks old, we administer the first puppy dewormer and trim their tiny, needle-like nails.
Socialization: Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS): We perform gentle daily handling exercises (such as placing the puppy on its back or tickling its paws with a cotton swab) to help build cardiovascular resilience and stress tolerance. We hold them upright, hold them with their head pointing downward, hold the puppy on its back, and place them on a damp towel for brief periods. Starting at just three days old, puppies also get daily massages to get them used to handling by people and early introduction to kids in our program. My 3 little kiddos are very excited about these Golden nuggets π
