Dolly Parton, who rose from a loving if impoverished upbringing in the mountains of East Tennessee to become the “Queen of Country” music, a Hollywood star, and a beloved American icon, has died, her family announced.

Parton was 80.

Her death came after Parton suddenly announced in May 2026 that she was canceling a Las Vegas show and said she'd been undergoing treatment for kidney stones for several years.

I spy FOUR baby kitty cats headed to their forever homes soon from Petco, at 75th & Metcalf in Overland Park, KS! 🐱🐱🐱🐱

No time to volunteer at the shelter? I totally get that. There are sooo many other ways you can help. On Mondays, I walk dogs at the main shelter KCPP, and if any cats need to get to one of the adoption areas I’m headed to next, I transport them afterwards. It may seem like a small thing, but these little trips are vital and help save lives every single day.

Ask me how you can help, ask KC Pet Project, or any of the local rescues and shelters where you live. They can always use an extra set of hands, or an extra driver. 🚗🐾
