🧨 July 4th is approaching quickly & we want you to help your 3 or 4 legged besties feel safe and at ease as much as they can, on one of the scariest days of their year.
🧨 This coming holiday weekend is the most common time of year for pets to go missing. To keep your companions secure, update their microchip/ID tags, keep them safely indoors in an escape-proof room with soothing background noise, and consult us regarding calming medications if your pet has severe noise anxiety.
🧨 It is also the most common time of the year for foreign body obstructions and severe GI upset. Yikes! Please remember that corn cobs and rib/chicken bones cannot pass in the intestines & there are a number of things at the table this weekend that will give your dog an expensive tummy ache. Safest to stick with treats they already have had and enjoy!

🥵 EXTREME HEAT WARNING, til Tuesday in KC!
Heat stroke in pets can go from 0 to 100, quite quick.

Emergency clinics note that it's one of the most dangerous - and underestimated - emergencies they see every summer.

Please be mindful of when you take your walks this week, and all summer:
📍 It is recommended to do first thing in the morning, or late at night.
📍 If you can't place the back of your hand on the sidewalk for 5-7 seconds without removing because it's too hot, it's too hot for paw pads.
📍 Stick to shaded paths.
📍 Bring fresh, cool water for both you and your pet.
📍 NEVER leave your pet in the car, unattended.

🌡️ If you are worried that your dog is experiencing heat stroke, the best course of action is to hose your dog down with cool or tepid water and turn on the air conditioning in your car while on the way into a veterinary hospital. NEVER use alcohol or ice packs directly on their skin. This can constrict blood vessels and actually trap heat inside the body instead of releasing it. {VEG}

🐾 If you have questions, please give us a call.

Heatstroke in dogs can show up as panting, drooling, and other concerning symptoms. Know the signs and follow our vet's preventative safety tips to help keep your dog safe.

🌸 Happy Mother's Day to the moms who said "I'm not ready for kids" and then proceeded to celebrate their pets birthday harder than most weddings.

🌼 Happy Mother's Day to the cat moms who are lovingly tolerated by their tiny furry dictators every single day. Your service is appreciated.

🌸 Happy Mother's Day to every dog mom who's ever canceled plans because "my dog looked sad when I grabbed my keys." Valid behavior honestly!

🌼 To the horse moms, goat moms, cow moms, chicken moms, and everyone lovingly bossed around by barn animals - today is yours too.

🐾💻📞 The voices of calm in the chaos, the masters of multitasking, and the reason our day keeps moving.

This Veterinary Receptionist Week, we’re celebrating the front desk superheroes who greet every wag, comfort every worried pet parent, juggle the ringing phone, and somehow keep smiling through it all. We’d truly be lost without you.
