this weekend, we welcomed 1 dog and 15 cats/kittens that arrived as strays and are currently waiting for their families to find them. Each pet is on a 3-day stray hold while we work to reunite them with their owners.

📊 Shelter Snapshot 6.1.26 - 6.7.26

Last week was a little calmer than the previous few weeks, but our team still stayed busy caring for pets in need! 🐾

We welcomed 51 animals into our care last week and helped 45 pets move on to their next chapter.

🐶 Dogs: 98% Capacity (51 dogs)
While dog adoptions were a little slower with 3 finding homes, we were thrilled to reunite 8 dogs with their families 💙 Thanks to those happy reunions, our dog population dropped slightly and moved back down within the High range.

🐱 Cats: 61% (39 Cats)
Our cat side remained fairly steady this week. We celebrated 13 cat adoptions, 5 foster placements, and 5 cats returning home to their families. 🧡With fewer cats arriving overall, we're holding steady as we continue preparing for the busy summer months ahead.

✨ Every adoption, foster placement, rescue transfer, share, and reunion makes a difference. Thank you to our staff, volunteers, fosters, rescue partners, and community members for helping us keep pets moving toward loving homes. Let's keep the momentum going! 💙

Thanks to a generous $1,500 donation from Stella’s Sass, the adoption fees for 20 dogs at League City Animal Care are completely covered. Adopters will also receive a special goodie bag from Stella's Sass to take home with their new best friend.

🐾 A quick update from the shelter:

Unfortunately, all of our Animal Care Techs are out sick today, so we're operating with a much smaller team than usual. The good news is that our Adoption Center is still OPEN, and we're hopeful we can still help some wonderful pets find homes today!

If you're visiting the Pet Resource Center, please head directly to the Adoption Center entrance. Our Animal Protection Officers and amazing volunteers are stepping in to assist visitors and adopters throughout the day.

Because of short staffing and many of these folks helping in roles outside of their normal duties, wait times may be a little longer than usual. We appreciate your patience and understanding as everyone pitches in to keep things running smoothly for the animals.

Field operations will continue as usual, with an officer remaining available to respond to calls for service.
