One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that young horses don’t benefit from bodywork because they ā€œaren’t doing much yet.ā€

But growing is work šŸ‘€

As young horses learn to carry themselves, balance with a rider, grow into their bodies, and compensate for things like hoof imbalance or natural sidedness, they can start developing uneven muscle patterns very early on.

Kodak is only 3 and lightly started under saddle, but you can already see signs of compensation through the chest and shoulders in his before photo. In the after, his posture is softer, wider, and more even through the front end.

The changes are subtle — and that’s the point.

Bodywork for young horses often isn’t about ā€œfixingā€ major problems. It’s about supporting healthy movement, proper muscle development, topline engagement, and body awareness before small compensations become bigger issues later on šŸ–¤

There’s something so special about the Tennessee Walking Horse ✨
Known for their naturally smooth gait and that signature stretch, everything about this breed is meant to flow with ease when they feel good in their body—not forced, just offered.
Dixie is 22 years old and still stepping right into this posture all on her own. No asking, no setup—just feeling good, having a moment… and then immediately looking for her treat after šŸ˜‰šŸ“
Gaited horses really depend on softness through the back, shoulders, and hips to keep that smooth, effortless movement. As they get older, that support matters even more so they can stay comfortable and continue doing what they’re built to do.
Horses like Dixie are such a good reminder that age doesn’t mean losing ability—it just means paying attention to what their body needs to keep them feeling their best šŸ’›

Hi! I’m starting to look for a new setup in Davis County or nearby areas.
I run a small, low-traffic equine conditioning and development program focused on maintaining and bringing along performance horses. It’s a quiet, scheduled program with a consistent group, and I handle all daily care and management.
Ideally, I’m looking for something a little different than traditional per-horse boarding—such as leasing a pasture or small space for a flat monthly rate.
That said, I’m also open to boarding facilities that offer pasture board with arena access, as long as the environment is a good fit for a low-key, structured program.
Long-term, consistent setup preferred.
If anyone has space available or knows of a property owner who might be open to something like this, I’d love to connect!

I’m currently opening a limited number of spots in my conditioning and development program.
This program focuses on consistent work, body conditioning, groundwork, and building a solid foundation so horses stay balanced, strong, and reliable in their work.
Because I keep things small and hands-on, I only take a limited number of horses at a time and currently maintain a waitlist for future openings.
I may also have a potential opening this summer depending on timing, so I’m starting to gather interest now for horses that would benefit from structured development work.
If you’re interested or want more information, feel free to message me and I can go over whether it would be a good fit for your horse!

Spring break, sunshine, and horse time šŸ“ā˜€ļø
We took advantage of the beautiful weather this week and turned it into something a little extra special—hands-on horse time for the kids. From learning how to groom and care for these amazing animals to getting their first rides in, it was all about building confidence, connection, and respect.
There’s something powerful about kids learning with horses—not just riding, but understanding them. So much growth happens in those quiet moments at the barn.
Grateful for the laughter, the curiosity, and the little memories made out here. šŸ’›
If you’re looking for a fun and educational way to get your kids involved with horses, this is exactly the kind of experience we love to create.

Willard – 14-Year-Old Appaloosa Gelding, 14.3 hh
Located in Layton, Utah
Willard is a 14-year-old Appaloosa gelding trained in Western pleasure. He offers a slow, comfortable trot and lope and has experience being safely ridden by children. While he has been off riding for approximately a year, he is responsive under saddle and can be occasionally spirited, making him best suited for an experienced rider.
On the ground, Willard is well-behaved with grooming and tying. He is cautious with strangers and can be selective about handling his back feet, but with patient, consistent handling, he responds well.
Willard has a distinctive personality—sometimes appearing gruff—but he is affectionate once he trusts you. His intelligence and willingness make him a rewarding partner for the right handler.
Health: Up to date on vaccinations. A veterinary exam and PPE are scheduled; details available upon request.
