Beautiful day at Rabbit Hill Park. We enjoyed a nice, shady spot for our tents and tables, and enough room for a smallish demo ring where we held obedience, rally and scent work demos.
Thank you to all the LKC members who came to help, to Maddie Kiley for organizing it and to Jim Marchand for the delicious chicken biscuits.
The crowd was not large but we were able to talk to some people about our dogs and the LKC training program. All and all, a good day!

Just another reminder that our next general meeting of the LKC will be held this Tuesday, May 26, 2026. We will hold our annual elections and we have a pot luck dinner and a guest speaker. It's an important meeting for your kennel club. If you have not signed up to bring anything for the dinner, you can still do so. We need additional drinks and ice (lemonade would be great), chips, desserts....whatever is your favorite side dish! The dinner will be open at 7:00 with the guest speaker at 7:30 p.m. and the business meeting to follow. Please join us!

We are planning our annual election meeting at our next general meeting on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 7:30 p.m. We will have a guest speaker at the meeting, Dr. Beth Yash from Hawthorne Animal Hospital in Athens, who will be discussing summer safety for our dogs, and we will hold our annual elections. No important meeting is complete without food, so we are also planning a covered dish, picnic-style dinner. The club will provide the meat which will be casual (wings, chicken tenders, etc.) and the members are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. We already have people signed up for cole slaw and potato salad, but we can use additional salads and sides (i.e. fruit tray, vegetable tray, cheese and crackers, potato chips, pasta salad, etc.) and we can never have too many desserts! Additionally you might choose to bring tea or lemonade with a bag of ice.

Please share this post. A former student has informed me that he is terminal. He is looking to rehome both of his dogs. He prefers to rehome them together but that might not be an option. The one on the left is a Belgian Malinois named Kahlua. I have worked with her in class and she is a really nice girl. She is probably between 1 and 2 years old. The dog on the right is also a female named Kira. She looks like a shepherd mix. I haven't met her before. I have already reached out to a Mal rescue and they are currently full. If you know of anyone able to take one or both of these girls. PM me and I will send you his information. I don't have any other information on these girls. I don't know if they are spayed or up to date on shots. I will update information as I receive it.

Lawrenceville Kennel Club welcomed the Special Needs School of Gwinnett at our Lake Lanier Cluster Show today. The students toured the conformation area where they watched dogs being shown, the grooming area where they got to pet a Golden Retriever, a Brussels Griffon and a big Swiss Mountain Dog. Then they watched a couple of dogs in Farm Dog and a dozen or so dogs run in Fast Cat. The tour ended with a photo of all the kids courtesy of David Sombach Photography (the show photographer)

I love the big smiles on their faces.
