Good Evening JSAC family!
Today was HOT 🥵 🔥, so we wanted to remind everyone to keep your pets 🐶 🐈 inside! Do not leave them outside for extended periods of time, and do not leave in hot cars. If they go for a ride or go outside with you to the car, make sure you check the inside of your cars (especially if your pet matches your interior). Heat stroke is VERY serious, we’re in prime season… Be smart and stay safe this weekend!

If you have any questions or concerns always call/text us we’re always here to help and educate!

Hello friends! Just a friendly reminder that the 4th of July is coming up and now is a good time to start thinking about anxiety medications for your pet. Get those requests in early! We will be closed on July 4th and unable to fulfill any requests made on that day until the following day during business hours. During the celebrations it's always a good idea to keep your pets inside in a safe and quiet area to reduce anxiety and flight risk. We hope you have a fun and safe 4th of July!

Hi everyone! Looking at the forecast this weekend we're going to see a sudden increase in temperatures, which pets have not had time to adjust to, so please limit your pet's outside activity. Heatstroke is a major medical emergency that is life threatening without treatment. Please ensure your pets have ample access to water and shade when outside this weekend.

Good Afternoon!
Just a quick friendly reminder that the 4th of July is right around the corner! Do you have all your medications you need for the long weekend?????
We're open normal hours for the rest of this week but we will be closed Monday for the fourth, and resume normal business hours Tuesday July 5th.
Please call ahead of time so we have time to prepare the medications for you in enough time.

If your pet is fearful of the fireworks (or loud noises) please make sure you have EVERYTHING you need for them, to make sure they feel safe and protected from the loud fireworks. We encourage everyone to make sure you keep your pets INSIDE during the fireworks.
*Make sure you keep their collar with name tag attached, (don't want them to get spooked and try and run out of the door and not be found).
*According the forecast, they say it is going to be hot Monday, so make sure they are being kept in air conditioned places with lots of water, and maybe add the radio too so they can be distracted by the sounds.

Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!!!

COVID-19 UPDATE

Although many retail businesses are re-opening, with restrictions, the virus is increasing rapidly in Douglas County. After review of the current situation and recommendations by epidemiologists on how best to give our best care to our patients while keeping you and our staff safe, we will continue the current curbside service until further notice. We realize that this is difficult for everyone involved, but please understand, in addition to safety concerns, if any of our staff becomes ill with or tests positive for Covid-19, this would result in a shut down of the clinic for at least 2 weeks, and an interruption in patient care.

This is inconvenient for everyone, but please keep in mind it is very stressful for our staff as well. Response time is slowed; doctors and staff are working harder and longer hours than ever. Your pet is important to us, you are important to us, your time is important to us, but, as always, we have to give priority to the most critically ill pets, which often causes unanticipated delays.

We truly appreciate your patience, understanding and kindness in this difficult time. These virtues are now more important than ever.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lisa Cason to the JSAC staff.

03/23/2020

Jarrett Small Animal Clinic is remaining open to continue caring for our patients. If your animal is in need of medical attention please call the clinic and speak to one of the staff members. The clinic and staff will be implementing additional safety protocols to ensure the health of our clients and staff. We ask all clients to continue practicing social distancing and appropriate hand washing as the clinic staff are doing the same. The clinic will only be seeing patients by curbside appointments and drop offs. As long as you or those in your household are not showing any signs of illness, we ask you remain in your vehicle and call the clinic when you arrive for your appointment. A staff member will come outside and bring the patient into the facility to be treated and cared for. Once finished, a staff member will bring your pet back to your car along with recommendations and medications as needed. If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms or other indicators of illness and you have an appointment scheduled, we kindly ask you to reschedule for a later date. If your pet is having a medical emergency please call the clinic and speak to a staff member. We continue to ask to request food and prescription refills 24 hours in advance, or to utilize www.myvetstoreonline.com. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us either by phone 785-749-2993. We will continue staying up to date with current advisories from the state of Kansas and the CDC, and will be adjusting our protocols based on their recommendations. We continue to thank you for your cooperation and understanding during the COVID-19 outbreak. Stay safe and wash your hands!

Thank you for being there to help us assist Autumn to the other side today. You guys have always given her so much love. Thank you.
We loved taking our cat and bunnies here back in 2013. We just moved back and called about getting our new bunny seen and was told they only see dogs and cats? How is this a "small animal clinic" if they won't see small animals...maybe I missed something here but I'm super disappointed.
We will be closed Monday, January 18 in honor of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sterling is looking forward to his rabies vax Thurs. and finding out why he has a rash on his leg. HAHA--just kidding. A shot isn't really his favorite activity, but he will be happy to have a dx for his itchy skin.
Dr. Jarrett: Ms. Brockman turned off comments on the post regarding the puppy, so I'm here. I would love for you to inform me as to how much education you had on vaccines during your time in school to become a vet. If you had watched the video, you would know that the panel states that doctors have a half a day in medical school dedicated to vaccines. It wasn't just some random video. Also, our dog was on preventative medication and it didn't prevent the ehrlichia. Medication is not always the end all be all. It isn't 100% foolproof. Neither are vaccines and vaccines carry risks. Whether the risks outweigh the potential benefits is something pet owners need to each decide for themselves. Like I said, we selectively vaccinate and the vet we currently see doesn't judge us for our choice.
Meet our boy nugget who loves his vet thank you all for being so kind to my sweet boy nugget
CHIEF went missing December 30th from East Topeka, KS. There have been no reported sightings. His owner, Lawrence Carter is missing his boy greatly. Chief was scared off by a loud noise. He could be anywhere at this point. PLEASE keep an eye out for Chief.
Lawrence's page is:

PLEASE message him with ANY information. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking care him and us during his passing. Also for the hair locket and charm. He is truly missed.
Thank you so much for the sympathy card for Maggie and for her paw prints. I bawled all over again. You all took such good care of her and us on her last day. It was exactly as I could have hoped for. Thank you.
When you know you have the best vet ever.

After working hard to keep Penny healthy and comfortable despite her failing health over the last year, Dr. Kissinger gave us this Tibetan prayer wheel with a lock of Penny’s fur inside and her paw prints. ❤️❤️❤️ I will treasure these.
I would like to thank you for all you've done for Narnia and I. After just a day and a half of rest and cuddles after surgery, we are already having to slow her down. She is already headed back to her normal self! I am so pleased with your animal clinic and the care and compassion we got there.
