Food is food and hot tasty smell good food is better than dry or wet cold food.

Dogs do not understand English and they certainly do not understand yours from theirs. With dogs yours is translated as mine lol.

Training a "place" cue to tell your pup that this is where they need to be during dinner time is a good way to avoid bad table manners.

Then when it's there meal time maybe if they have been super good add some warmed up canned food into their dry food for an added treat.

Dogs want to get good things and avoid bad things. Your dog can be taught without pain that good things do happen when they make the right choices. There are many times you can reinforce bad behaviors without realizing it. As a dog owner learning to reward the correct behaviors help make the bond between the owner and dog more powerful.
