I’m Rex. I am 7 years old and I met my new family on Thanksgiving. Isn’t that amazing! 🤗❤️
My old family abandoned me, left me to fend for myself. 😔And that’s all I’m gonna say about that. 😔🤬
My new older poodle brother Bernie was so sad 😔after Jake died so mom brought him and my new sister down to the rescue. When Bernie saw all the Dobermans he cried out from joy and was so happy. 😁 So crazy, how he kept talking. (Later on mom told me that Jake helped Bernie recover from all the bad stuff that happened to him.)
I p*eked at my new mom through the fence and then Ms Alicia from the rescue she went and got me and I met them! ❤️❤️My new mom, brother and sister. I didn’t know what to do so I just smiled. And then my new mom said she liked my vibe and my good, good energy. That made my heart happy but then they left. 😔And then my mom, she could not stop thinking of me so she talked to my new dad and he said: go get him! So the very next day she came and got me and I was so happy and kept smiling. ❤️You can see in the photo. 😭🤗❤️Mom cried a little when we left the rescue cause she was so happy! (She is a cryer this one) 😭😆Please see freedom ride photo from back of the car! 🤗Yes!
The Monday after mom brought me to work with her. I had lumps and bumps that needed investigation, two growths on my eye that needed removal and I needed my toothies done too! So much stuff. We did blood work and everything was great. Mom was worried about heartworm, Taz was heartworm positive but I’m good. I’m negative. Already the next day I had surgery, two growths removed from my eye. Nurse Kaitie said: let’s get this fargin’ eggplant off your eye and they did! 🤗 So good not to have that in my peripheral vision anymore. Also they did something called fine needle aspiration and my lumps are just fatty lumps, the good kind my dr said.
And then I came to work with mom almost every day so she could keep an eye on me, it was so nice, everyone is awesome there. Bad thing is I had to wear a big stinking cone on my head for two weeks. Mom was happy when that came off, her legs were black and blue. 😆I like to be very, very close to her.
So let’s see what else, my brother Bernie he came from a hoarding situation and was in such bad shape but not anymore, now he is awesome. My sister Chica Bonita, she joined the family last June. She was in liver failure and came to mom’s hospital. She was so messed up! Her old mom had a euthanasia appointment. 😔She is only 7 years old and 7 lbs, a little Morkie. Mom asked the old owner to sign her over and then the Dr’s at mom’s job saved her life. She was on lots of meds and they fixed her liver. And now we call her “spicy potato” she is super bossy. 😑(I try to do what she tells me).
The family has changed since Jake’s last blog. Suzy, Daisy and Curley went to the bridge. But mom swears that Chica Bonita aka Spicy Potato is Suzy reincarnated. ❤️
Every time one leaves, mom says never again. 😔And then it gets better and she realizes there is more love in her heart to share. So many dogs she has loved and I think that’s awesome. More dogs = bigger heart! Rescue is wonderful, just look at me! ☺️💕I have begun a brand new life.
I was not allowed on the furniture before. Now I am though and it’s just fabulous. I love it. The first time I climbed up on the bed I made myself into a tiny ball in the corner of the bed and tried to be invisible but now I take up all the room and I feel happy and comfortable. Please see photo of me stretching on the bed. ❤️🤗
I do love water which they they figured out after they tried to water the plants. So freaking fun! The best time. Again please see photos. I think mom has taken at least a million of them.

All is well here. My brother Bernie is not sad anymore, we chase lizards together and bark at Tony the neighbors dog. Chica Bonita is spicy but cute but annoying. 😂
It’s only been 6 weeks since I came here but it’s awesome. We are getting to know each other and it’s so great. My new family loves me so much and I love them so much too. I wish for everyone to have someone to love that loves them back and to feel safe. I am safe now and they would never ever abandon me. I know that in my heart. So for now Peace out from Red Dawg Rex.

Jake died on October 19. He was 13 years old.
He collapsed and we brought him to ER where we said goodbye.
He had a lot of blood around his heart and the Dr believes it was Hemangiosarcoma of the heart. 😔
Jake was so very special and my heart is hurting.
His smile, we called him Mr Laughs, he was always so happy.
He danced with me…put his head on my hip and circled around me to our favorite reggae songs. He used to laugh and sneeze and we danced and laughed together. ❤️He was so good, from day 1 when he came to us. He was perfect. I could do what ever I needed to do to him, never a problem, baths, nails, ears always awesome. Jake was everything you want in a Doberman, he was loyal, protective, sweet and funny and super smart.
He was so kind to any dog that we took in. He was a perfect gentleman. The sweetest boy!
And just like that he is gone. And my tears won’t stop.
I am so grateful that I got love him.
We will miss him forever.
Beautiful Jake, oh my heart. ☮️❤️Rest easy my beautiful boy.

Hey, it’s me Dobes! 🤗Or as they now call me “BEBOOP” I prefer Dobes feel it’s more dignified. 🙂 I have now been here 5 months and I must say I’m living my very best life. ❤️Like the other night when I ate a squirrel and Iguana p**p for dessert and then you know what happened?! 😂😂I barfed in their bed! Right when they had laid down for the evening. Both my parents screamed in horror 😱as I wretched and then I wanted to be helpful and eat it again which made it worse. 😑I feel they are very sensitive. 😑It all worked out for me cause they had to strip the whole bed (I prefer freshly laundered sheets)while mother muttered thank goodness we had a mattress cover. Sensitive I tell ya’! 🤔
I have discovered a few things.... I do hate power tools A LOT. Lawn mowers, leaf blowers everything like that is NO BUENO. 😡Oh and worst of all the giant power tool in the sky (mom calls it a helicopter) I see one of those and go completely bonkers. If I never see one of those again I'll be happy. Also we have the hose!!!! Which was a huge problem for me, I don't like them either, like a huge snake🐍 it slithers across the yard and I take it in my mouth and violently shake it! I bark and bark and bark. My parents love to garden and spend a lot of time out there tending to everything so it was like a big deal that I hate the hose. Mom used to put me in when they watered but then she thought it is a shame that I can't be out there with them, so she just let me be. I of course was the great defender of my mother, I barked so loud and for a long time, right next to mother. 🤬She did nothing, no response, did not even look at me. 🤔Finally after a while I just gave up the barking and whined instead. Same thing no response so I just went and stood in the doorway until she was done. So usually now I quietly sneak by her and wait until she is done. 😇

There are lots of critters in our yard. We have the green swimmer jerks, (that do produce delish snacks)🦎 that sun on the deck and then just jump in the pool when I try to get them. Then we have the squirrels that tease me and try to p*e on me. Oh and then, the worst of them all! I just saw it the other day. It's like a demon!!!! 😱😱😰It scared me so much. Mother was watching through the window....She saw me when I discovered this awful devils' spawn👹. It was sitting at the end of the pool! I was just minding my own business and boom there it is!!! I hunkered down and slowly, slowly, very carefully crawled backwards in slow motion as to not alert the demon. Then of course mother comes out and is cracking up (not funny at all if you ask me) she says: Beboop it's just a bird!!! 🐦 I knew, but still it was scary. So when mother came out and said that, I of course had to go in full protect mode and I did and demon seed from hell flew away so mission accomplished.

We do a lot of fun things. I finally got to go to Paws on the Avenue which is a local pet store that I was the cover model for. 😎I met the nice lady that owns it and got a bag of treats. Super nice and good! ❤️❤️We walk in the morning in the dark, have sammies at night, snuggle a lot which is my favorite. ❤ I grunt and grunt and grunt. 🙃😊I am a close talker mother says, please see enclosed photo of me talking to mother in bed.❤️And now mother and I dance all the time. She says: Oh Jake this is a good song, (there is always a good song🤗)come dance with me! 🙂 And I always do, I love it. I put my head on her belly and she holds it and then I wiggle my butt and my little nubbin, I rub myself around her, like a gorgeous velvety dinosaur moose and it's so good and fun. 🦕 Dad laughs when we do it so then I laugh too. I sneeze and click and throw my head around. It's the best. Dad plays his guitars in his special music room with all his lights. Black lights and stage lights and what not. I chill with him in there, laying next to my sister Daisy we just relax. Mom says I intently watch my dad when he plays. 😍❤️☮️As you can see all is well here with me. I’m living my best life❤️❤️❤️❤️

OMG! 🤗Where do I start?! So much excitement going on..
I won a cover contest, quarantine, pigeons, baths, sammies and all the love all the time. ☺️❤️❤️First of all I am now an official supermodel just like my parents say I am. I won first price for a petstore and now I’m their cover model. Pretty special. The ladies that own that store they have Dobermans too. Rescue Dobermans. 🥰🥰So later in the week we will go and get a price from them. ❤️❤️
My dad got 😔Covid (he is ok now😌)so then everybody had to quarantine which was so superawesome!!! 🤗❤️I loved it so much. We got more love, more snacks and more time together and that was very nice and good for me and my siblings. We do get the sammies each night and Suzy my smaller older sister, (she is the oldest, the matriarch if you will, see enclosed photo of her) still barks and barks and barks and barks during the sammie making. 😣 Age gave no wisdom to her.
We had Christmas at my house and I got so much love!! ❤️Everybody was loving on me and it was great, ❤️what was not so great was the Christmas bling my adoring mother felt the need to dress me up in. 😑Did not like that. See enclosed photo of that as well. So I do love being in my garden. Mom said that Taz used to chase the lizards but not me I stalk the birds. 🦅 I love to sneak up on them. The other day I was in total stealth mode, walking in super slow-motion, ever so gently placing one paw in front of the other. 😎😏Not one bird knew that I was there, not one! Especially not the fat one that I was stalking. It was so exciting, I was almost vibrating and then just as I was ready to attack..Guess what happened? 😭😤Mother that is what happened. She hollered and the bird flew away. Seriously! Not a good job by her!. I’ll keep trying that’s all. 🤗
After that it was bath time. 😶‍🌫️In the bathtub for the first time. Mother was prepared to wrestle me in there 😂My brother Taz did not like the tub so mother thought I was the same. She brought the towels, shampoo and got a leash for me. 💪🏻Ready for battle! She closed the bathroom door and looked at me and said ready? I said: OK 👌 and jumped into the tub. Wish you could have seen her face. 😅She was so 😯 shocked!
I am such a good, good boy! 😇As mother was bathing me she sang: Miiiicheeeelle my beeeeeeeeeeellle (clearly we have moved on from Neal Young to The Beatles) she really belts out the I love you, I love you, I looooveee youuu. Oy, what I put up with. 😆After the bath I really got the zoomies! Flying around the house and made the couch into a racetrack. So fun. We were all laughing. I click my teeth and sneeze and zoom over and over. The best. I feel happy again. ❤️❤️We always have music here. My dad has a room full of stuff and it is so cool in there with all the lights and the music and the windows rattle from the low tones in his bass. I lay in there and chill in the black lights. I love it! Mother hollers again about not burning the dogs retinas out with the lights. 😂
Anyway that’s it for now. ❤️I am happy here with my new family. They really love me so much. Every night we lay so close and I make my noises. Purr like a big velvety kitty-moose. I love them and we all can’t believe how lucky we are to have found each other. Time for bed so I’m Signing off for this time.

Things are going great. ❤️❤️How ever we did have an incident. 😑
The parents left and forgot to take a bag of garbage and breakfast remnants out. In the bag there was coffee grounds, a bunch of condiment packages that mother had cleaned out, left over salmon and so much more...I would say it was a pretty nice mix of stuff. My older, smaller sister Daisy, she went bonkers, 😳she pulled on the bag, tore it all open, coffee grounds, ketchup and soy sauce and mayo flying all over. She ate the salmon. (did not share and was quite mean about it) I did not do anything, NOTHING, 😇I am such a very, very good boy. I looked so guilty because I did feel very bad about the situation.
🤗And then mother looked at the camera and the culprit was Daisy, I was just standing there being very good and handsome. 😍What else is going on...Oh, my ears are bugging me a little bit. One ear has no cartilage at all it’s just a hole into my head. The other ear has a tiny bit of cartilage and it is so itchy and dry. Mother puts a nice balm on and it feels so good. She gently rubs it in and sings to me. Yesterday she sang Neal Young's “Harvest Moon” which is a fine song to get an ear rub to. It feels so good and I grunt and drool a little 🤤 ❤️Went to vets office. 🙂 Ms Dani washed my ear very nicely. There are a bunch of pups at the vets office. There is Punkie he is like 9 lbs and he growls at me. 😞 Two times now! 😤There is Kingston and Margarite too. ❤️They are nicer than Punkie is. I know that Punkie used to growl at Taz too, so it's not only me. After that to work with mom. ❤️You can see photos of her training me in sit, stay in a superlong hallway at her work. (which is kind of ridiculous cause who does not know sit, stay!?) I kind of like the running part though, I gallop like a wild giraffe mother says. 🙂 Then at the end I smile at her and get a cookie. Very good deal. Some other photos I put in are of the Sammies being made, me being patient🤗 and Suzy barking the whole time. I love my dad! ❤️He is the best.
Also I have developed a bartering system, 😃it works in this way, when they are having dinner and wont give me their food I will simply bring them a toy, set it down, not just willy-nilly set it down. Eye contact 🥸with mother as I canter up to her, important to keep the eye contact while toy is being placed on floor. After that I will give one swift boop with my nose and get a squeak from my squirrel then I smile and thats it. If it does not work I will just keep bringing toys until I get food. 100% fail proof so far. Please see photo of my favorite squirrel. (mother says he is gross) 🤢There is one photo of me on the couch, I am in mid conversation explaining to mother that I need one treat for each toe if we are dremeling. 🤗❤️She agreed to that. ❤️You can see my brother Taz on the wall.❤️❤️It's been one month here with my new family. I have so many names now. 🙂 Sometimes mother calls me Freddy like Freddy Mercury because I hit those high notes 🎶when a police or fire truck drive by and I have like a 5 octave vocal range which is super good they say. I am their velvet singing moose. 😂🤗❤️When I snuggle at night I grunt very low grunts like a baritone, when mom or dad prepares my food I am more in the soprano range. And when I bark I am like an extremely super loud Barry White. Pretty cool I think. How lucky am I that at 9 years of age I get to start a new life and be so loved and how lucky are they that got me?! ❤️There are lots of senior dogs out there looking for someone to love them. Imagine if no-one would have given me another shot at love? 😔That would have been terrible. But things are not terrible they are awesome and I know that this is long but I had so much to say today. ❤️❤️Anyway it's time for bed.

Dobes, Jake Dobes. It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. ❤️I am the brother of Taz. 🤗Not brother by blood but brother by heart. ❤ I have been here with my new mom and dad plus 3 new siblings for two weeks now. I am the youngest of this whole crew even though I am 9 years old. ☺️
Yes, you are seeing correctly I have no ears, 😔they were cut off and my parents and the beautiful ladies Ms Ginny, Ms Marinella and Ms Grace from the rescue that saved me don't know why. How ever my parents says that I am a supermodel and I am so very velvety soft. I feel that I am very, very handsome even without ears. 🤗I am an extremely good and smart and kind boy. My favorite things are two squeaky squirrels and every night I bring them to bed with me. I sleep right in between my parents and it's very nice and good. ❤️🥰Sometimes I have my head on dads chest, my squirrels next to me and I have a paw on my mother so she won't feel jelly about the situation. 😆😇There is only one of me so I am trying to take turns and spread the love. 🙂 I have been introduced to a very yummy tradition that my dad does every night and that is blueberry and peanut butter sammies. Had one the first night and now I just love it. ❤️My little sister Suzy barks the whole time 😳when dad makes them and she is a little annoying but oh well... Anyway, we are just getting to know each other here and I have a good feeling. 💕I know that I am home now and never ever have to feel alone or afraid again. Someone said to my new mother: Oh boy, he has some big shoes to fill coming after Taz. And you know what mother said then?? She said: the only shoes he has to fill are his own. Excellent answer I think. I loved that she said that. I know how their hearts hurt so much. It’s almost like I’m rescuing them too. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️So that's it for now just wanted to introduce myself, who knows I might write some more another time. My new mom knows I’m a thinker, a philosopher one might say. 🤔

Exactly 5 years ago this heart worm positive street dog with a bullet in his ear changed our lives. ❤️❤️❤️We brought him home with hurricane Matthew knocking on our door. The house was filled with outside plants that was brought in. Really crowded. We had 6 cats and 6 other dogs and it was like Taz was always here. Our hearts still so broken over this loss. He was so kind, sweet, funny and just pure love. Everyone loved Taz. ❤️He made us belly laugh every single day. We love you so Taz and still miss you so incredibly much. Thank you for being ours for a bit. ❤️So here are a ton of photos of him because who would not want to see this gorgeous face! 🤗❤️❤️
