Yesterday Koda came in to establish care and to address chronic GI issues. Dr. Goodman had recommended a specific test that we use for further diagnostics. Poor Koda has been having diarrhea since March, and his owner has has tried to help him with prescription diets, probiotics, and medications, however, nothing seems to be helping.

We are sending bloodwork out to Texas A&M University for a full Gastro-intestinal panel. The GI Lab provides specialized testing services to help veterinarians diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases in dogs as well as cats. Their testing services can help in the management of pets with vomiting, weight loss, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or poor body condition.

We will get results back from the lab in a few days. We will hopefully get to the bottom of what is causing Koda to have these issues and help him get some much needed relief!

Happy Puppy Thursday!! On Tuesday Luna came in to meet us, the cutest little German Shepherd mix puppy. Her owner thinks she might be a Shepherd/Husky mix, but we know for sure that she is adorable!! We were quick to forgive the little puppy bites when she gave us kisses after.

Summer in Las Vegas is here, along with days over 100°! Keep your dogs cool this summer, and watch for any signs of them overheating.

Signs of heatstroke in dogs include excessive panting, reddened gums/mucous membranes, tachycardia (fast heart rate), dehydration , elevated temperature (104 F and above), vomiting, diarrhea, disorientation/stumbling, and weakness/collapse

As a dog’s temperature increases to greater than 104 F, central nervous system symptoms such as disorientation, seizures, and/or multiple organ dysfunction occurs.

Keep your dogs out of the midday heat, and always make sure they have shade and water if they are outside, and never leave them in your car. Keep your pets safe this summer!

Happy Puppy Thursday!! Today we have the most perfectly named little puppy to show you, introducing Moo, a 12 week old American Bulldog puppy.
