Sunday morning we woke to find that “Luca”, our unaltered male Bengal, was missing. His indoor and outdoor enclosures were still shut tightly. We desperately wanted him returned and we were willing to pay a reward for his return.
We had a Sheriff officer come out so we could report it. Then, we turned to Facebook to get the news out. We posted on 5 or 6 local pages. While we were continuing to look, the kind people with Facebook took over. The news was shared roughly 150 times in about an hour and more people than we could count said they were looking for him.
We spent yesterday evening and periodically throughout the night searching also, to no avail. However, around 3:00 - 3:30 a.m. we were in bed and heard a vehicle slowly pull into an irrigation access road. It is just on the other side of our property so we didn’t think too much about it since people do randomly use the road. We went back to bed with our window open, just in case. Shortly after, Luca came to our window talking to us and scratching, letting us know that he was home. I ran out of the house faster than I thought was possible. He came right to me. He just wanted to be loved on❤️. We checked him out and he seems fine.
We can’t thank everyone enough for sharing our post, spreading the word, and all of the thoughtful messages that were sent! Facebook can really work to our benefit in situations like this. We are incredibly thankful and have said since we moved to New Mexico that “New Mexicans are so kind and caring.” We have 24 hours of proof that this is true. ❤️ From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!!
*BTW, our security system will be seriously upgraded today!*
