NMSU Entomology professor Scott Bundy said this is something we don't see every year.

"It's it doesn't happen every year and some years have a lot more than others and some years have none. So, it kind of depends on the year and what the conditions are like,” Bundy said.

People in the community have seen grasshoppers jumping and flying around El Paso, becoming somewhat of a nuisance.

Our awesome graduate students at the Southwestern Branch of Entomological Society of America Conference. They won one of their games when they participated in the Ento Games. Good job on representing EPPWS and NMSU!
Luis, Sara and Alexis, also had Andres and John rooting them on. Coach Dr. Bowers helped them prepare for the games.
