🚨 URGENT: Foster Homes Needed 🚨
We are in critical need of foster placements for several puppies in our care and on intake hold. Without foster homes, we are unable to help them.

🐾 1) Tough – SPECIAL NEEDS (LONG-TERM FOSTER NEEDED)-Tough is a 6-month-old puppy currently in our care. He is blind, mostly deaf, and has additional congenital medical concerns. He requires a committed, long-term foster home that can provide stability, patience, and specialized care.

His current LAWS foster family is no longer able to keep him, so he urgently needs placement.

🐾 2) German Shepherd/Cane Corso Mix Puppies (4 total)- Born April 18, 2026 (7 weeks old) These four sweet puppies are friendly, social, and good with both people and other animals. They are not yet potty trained and have not received vaccinations due to their age. They need safe foster homes to grow and thrive until adoption.

🐾 3) Update- saved- secured by another rescue!!! Wind River Reservation Aussie Mix Puppy- A young Aussie mix (best guess) puppy currently being bullied by adult dogs in the area. This pup needs immediate removal and a safe foster placement.

🐾 4) Update- saved- secured by another rescue!!! Tan & White Lab/Shepherd-Type Puppy
A taller tan and white puppy, likely a Lab/Shepherd mix (best guess), also located on the reservation and needing foster placement alongside the pups in the same area.

🐾 5) Update- saved- secured by another rescue!!! Older Black Puppy (Reservation – Same Property) An older black puppy located on the same property as the above reservation pups. This puppy is also being bullied by people and other dogs in the area and is not in a safe situation. Urgent foster needed.

🐾 6) Additional Reservation Litter (3 Puppies) Three mixed-breed puppies on another property: Two brown and white
One fluffy white with brown spots
All need foster homes before we can safely bring them into care.

💔 We cannot take in or help any of these puppies without foster homes lined up.

If you are able to open your home, to help save a life, please fill out our foster application- https://www.laramie-animals.org/foster.

Every foster placement makes an immediate difference.

🐾 MEET THE LITTLE RASCALS: ELIO, LUCA, & JINU! 🐾

Are you ready to invite a whirlwind of joy into your home? Allow us to introduce our resident trio of adventurous gray-and-white brothers: Elio, Luca, and Jinu!

These boys are your quintessential five-month-old kittens. Their daily routine is pretty simple: energy, more energy, a little more energy, and then completely bonking out on your couch in the absolute cutest positions imaginable.

They are deeply affectionate, incredibly playful, and mostly fearless (though, to be completely fair, the vacuum cleaner is still their ultimate nemesis).

At five months old, kittens need plenty of mental stimulation and physical enrichment to stay out of trouble. Because of this, these brothers would thrive best if they are adopted in pairs, or if they go to a home that already has friendly, existing pets to keep them company.

Trust us, opting for "double the fun" is the best thing you can do for your household! You will be so glad you did when you get to watch them wrestle each other for three hours straight, completely leaving your curtains and your toes under the blankets alone.

When you adopt from this trio, you are adopting a lifetime of giggles, entertainment, and sweet, purry snuggles.

✨ Your next great adventure is waiting. Head over to laramie-animals.org to submit your adoption application today! ✨

🎨🧡Brilliant Art from Big Hearts🧡 🎨

Our hearts are so full after seeing the incredible artwork created by Mrs. Spicer’s 4th-grade class at Indian Paintbrush Elementary School.

Mrs. Spicer’s students painted portraits of adoptable animals and turned them into greeting cards, which they sold to benefit LAWS! A huge thank you for sharing your time and talents to create these delightful masterpieces!!

Raising awareness for our animals was already such a thoughtful act of kindness, but donating the proceeds from your card sales to support the animals you painted was truly above and beyond.

Your support means so much to us and all the sweet faces you captured in your art. 🐾🧡

🚨 URGENT PLACEMENT NEEDED FOR ORBIT 🚨

We are putting out an immediate, urgent call for our beautiful girl Orbit. She desperately needs a new placement as soon as possible—whether that is a dedicated adopter or a committed new foster home where she can land for a while.

Orbit is a gorgeous, high-energy herding/pit mix. If you know herding dogs, you know they are incredibly brilliant, loyal, and possess an amazing drive to learn. In the right environment, Orbit is a superstar. Orbit has great house manners, is fully crate-trained, and knows several commands including sit, down, shake, and come. She walks nicely on leash (especially when there are treats involved!) and has solid recall in calm, low-distraction areas. She’s also a big fan of chew bones, squeaky toys, and belly rubs. This beautiful black-and-white girl thrives with structure and gentle guidance.

Here is what Orbit needs to succeed:

• An Only Pet Home: Orbit has a tendency to resource guard (meaning she does not like sharing her valued items, food, or space with other animals). She needs to be the center of your world with no other pets in the home.
• An Adults-Only Household: Because she needs a predictable environment where she feels secure, Orbit will not be placed in a home with children.
• An Experienced Handler: Ideally, Orbit needs someone who understands the high-energy, high-enrichment needs of a herding/pit mix. She needs mental stimulation, structure, and someone who can read her cues and keep her mind active.

Orbit has so much potential, but she needs a new placement ASAP. If you have experience with working dogs, a quiet home, and the room in your heart to help a dog who truly needs a savior right now, please reach out.

Can you provide the secure, loving environment Orbit is searching for?

✨ Send us an email, or visit our website to fill out an application at laramie-animals.org to foster or adopt her. Please share this post to help us find her person! ✨

👑 MEET THE BROTHERS: FOUR FANCY RATS READY FOR ADOPTION! 👑

Looking for a pocket-sized pet with a massive personality? We are thrilled to introduce our newest available adoptees: four absolutely adorable, ten-month-old rat brothers!

These boys are highly intelligent, deeply social, and ready to find their forever homes. Because rats are pack animals, they need the company of their own kind, so we are looking to place them in pairs:

Pair 1: Wiggins & Pingora
• Wiggins: The loudest personality of the bunch! He is incredibly loving and can almost always be found cuddly-snuggled up with his bestie.
• Pingora: The adventurer! Pingora can get very rowdy and full of beans. He thrives on having daily free roam time in a safe space to burn off all that wonderful energy.

Pair 2: St. John & Remi
• St. John: Our independent thinker. While he loves hanging out with his brothers, he enjoys a bit of his own space and will make the perfect, balanced buddy for Remi.
• Remi: The ultimate people-pleaser! Remi is the most human-oriented of the brothers and absolutely loves socializing and interacting with his caretakers.

What Makes Them Happy?
These boys have some favorite hobbies! They are obsessed with shredding cardboard paper towel and toilet paper tubes, newspaper, and packing paper to build epic nests. They are also total foodies. Their absolute favorite treats include Ge**er baby yogurt and cereal puffs, pureed pumpkin, kale, apple slices, and crunchy carrots.

💡 A Quick Guide to Great Rat Care:
If you are new to the world of fancy rats, you are in for a treat! They are often called the dogs of the rodent world because of their intelligence and capacity to bond with humans. To give them the best life, keep these essentials in mind:

• The Right Setup: Rats need a large, wire cage (like a Critter Nation) with plenty of vertical space to climb, hammocks to sleep in, and a solid-surface running wheel to protect their feet.
• Mental Enrichment: Because they are so smart, they need daily out-of-cage playtime, puzzle toys, and foraging opportunities to keep their brains active.
• Diet: A high-quality rat block pellet should be their staple food, supplemented daily with fresh veggies and occasional fruits or healthy treats.

Whether you are an experienced rat owner or a motivated beginner who is ready to learn, we have experienced fosters who can guide you every step of the way to ensure a smooth transition.

Ready to add a pair of charming, intelligent companions to your life?

How Free is a "Free" Kitten?

When you adopt a kitten from LAWS, our adoption fee is $115. While that might seem like an extra expense compared to a free kitten from a neighbor, that fee includes:

* Spay or neuter surgery
* Initial age-appropriate vaccinations
* A thorough veterinary examination

Just a single veterinary visit for a checkup, a round of shots, or a spay/neuter surgery will quickly surpass $115. Adopting from a shelter or rescue means their care is subsidized and ultimately costs you less.

Tips for Responsible Rehoming

If you find yourself caring for an unexpected litter of kittens and are looking for homes for them yourself, please do your due diligence:

*Ask questions: Don't hesitate to ask potential adopters about their living situation, their experience with pets, and their plans for veterinary care. Ask them who the primary carer for the animal will be (and if they plan on a young child as primary caretaker, ask whether the adults will be closely involved).

*Rehome responsibly: It is entirely okay to ask for a small rehoming fee to ensure the adopter is financially invested in the kitten's future. If they can't afford to get the pet fixed, then please take the kitten to the shelter or contact LAWS instead. There are simply too many kittens out there as is, and an unspayed kitten will become pregnant and contribute to the cycle.

With all of this in mind, we want our community to be prepared: we have several wonderful batches of kittens who will be ready to be posted for adoption soon!

If your home and your schedule are ready for a long-term family member, we look forward to receiving your applications. Thank you for supporting responsible pet ownership in Laramie! 🧡

⛵ THE ODYSSEY OF MAVERICK: HOME AFTER EIGHT YEARS ⛵

Every now and then, an animal comes into our care with a story so unbelievable, it sounds like an ancient epic. Meet Maverick—a cat who has just completed an Odysseus-like journey.

Way back in 2017, Maverick was adopted from LAWS as a kitten. Not long after finding his home, tragedy struck: he slipped outside and became lost. Days turned into months, and months turned into years. He was seemingly gone forever.

Fast forward to eight years later.

Recently, one of our dedicated volunteers was out working on a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) effort for community cats. They ended up with a handsome black cat in their trap and immediately scanned him for a microchip. To everyone's absolute shock, the chip came back as Maverick's!

For eight long years, Maverick survived (as far as we know) entirely on his own in the wild. No vet care, no guaranteed meals, no soft beds, and no safety from the harsh Wyoming elements. We can only imagine the wild stories he would tell us if he could speak!

Now that his long odyssey is finally over, Maverick has some serious decompressing to do. The indoor world is a lot to take in after nearly a decade in the wild.

The Best Part of the Story:
A wonderful foster hero stepped up and welcomed Maverick into their home to guide his reintroduction to human life. He is currently adjusting at his own pace. While the new environment is understandably overwhelming for him at the moment, he has already been cautiously leaning into some gentle pets and snuggles. Right now, his favorite place is safe under their futon. We can't wait to see him open up and regain some trust.

Our Maverick is no longer fighting for survival. His journey is finished, and he is safe, secure, and loved. Welcome home, Maverick. 🖤🧭

🎉 THANK YOU, INABA! WE ARE SWIMMING IN CHURU! 🎉

We asked, and wow, did they ever answer! We want to send a massive, heartfelt thank you to INABA Premium Cat & Dog Treats for donating an absolute TON of cat treats to LAWS! Seriously, we have enough of these magical lickable treats to keep our kitties swimming in them like Scrooge McDuck. This is huge for us!

As many of you know, our cats eat regular, high-quality meals of Hill's Science Diet for their daily nutrition (huge shoutout to our ongoing partnership with Hill’s Pet Nutrition !)

Inaba produces a secret weapon absolutely crucial to the work we do best: taming under-socialized and shy kitties (and extra enrichment to the rest!)

The Magic of the Tube: Hand-feeding cats directly from a Churu tube gets them physically close to us for extended moments. It helps scared or defensive kitties associate the human presence with the most delicious reward imaginable. Before we know it, hiss hiss turns into purr purr!

Where is it all going?

While a large portion of this windfall will go directly toward socializing kitties currently in our care, there is so much that we get to share the wealth! We will be distributing plenty of this Churu to our regional community through our pet food pantry and during upcoming special food pickup days. (Keep an eye out on our page for those dates to be announced!).

From the bottom of our hearts—and from every spicy kitten currently learning to trust humans—THANK YOU, INABA! 🐱❤

MEET ALBA & MILANO: 🎵SO HAPPY TOGETHER 🎵

If you’re looking to bring a little extra light into your life, we have two wonderful young cats you need to meet.

Alba aren't birth siblings, but they became foster-mates after being introduced in their foster home. They look remarkably similar with their jewel-green eyes and matching gray-and-white outfits. They have become excellent friends—acting as each other's ultimate emotional support system as they learn how to navigate human life together.

Both of these cats entered our care shy and undersocialized, needing specialized attention, patience, and time—beyond what a traditional city shelter can typically offer. This is exactly what LAWS does best. We focus on the animals who need us most, invest the time they need to heal and grow, and reveal their true selves underneath.

They have shown so much flexibility and curiosity as they figure out what their role is as indoor pets (which, as it turns out, is simply to be loved and adored). Along the way, their unique personalities have blossomed:

Alba--who has a white chin-- is a delightful little cat who has found her voice—literally! She will melt your heart with her squeaky songs when she's happy and communicating with you. Alba is endlessly curious and will dip her paw into anything to check it out--including your water glass.

Milano--with the gray chin-- is an incredibly handsome young guy who has opened up so much these past few months, and discovered the joy of playtime. He will keep you constantly entertained by proudly dragging his favorite toys all around the house like a little hunter. He loves cheek rubs so much, he'll stand on his hind legs just to get a pat from you. He's truly a sweet soul at heart.

They are at that wonderful age where they are adaptable, playful, and ready to truly bond with their forever people. They will make you smile every single day, bringing laughter to your home that you didn't even know you were missing.

Whether you have room in your heart to keep this supportive duo together, or are ready to give one of them the patient, loving environment they deserve to continue blooming, they are ready to meet you.

We would like to purrscribe a large dose of gratitude to the Rho Chi chapter of UW’s School of Pharmacy!

We’re beyond grateful to Rho Chi for organizing a donation drive for LAWS and generously supporting our organization with their time and resources. Donations like these directly help us continue caring for local animals in need.

Thank you for highlighting that a healthy community includes caring for every member, even the four-legged ones. Because of your kindness, our animals will receive the extra care and comfort they deserve.

If you're interested in organizing a donation drive, check our website for a list of commonly-needed supplies. We are also ALWAYS in need of dry cat food for the community pantry, so we will always welcome a cat food drive!

Thanks again for the amazing community support!
