Theres no truer words than this…
The harsh reality of a
QUALITY BREEDER'S life.
HOW MUCH FOR A C**T?
Let me tell you a few words yes you the person who text just to ask for the price.
The person who calls and hears the price and says, "I can get a c**t cheaper somewhere else".
I'll talk to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want "just a pet and a ride horse to breed".
No foal is "just a pet and a ride horse".
Behind every purebred foal is a BREEDER. Using capital letters to distinguish between a breeder and an animal factory for lack of a better word. A serious breeder does not raise foals without documents that protect the integrity of the breed.
Registration papers are ancestry records that document the lineage and allow you to investigate possible health issues in your lineage.
When you tell a breeder you don’t care about papers, just tell him you don’t care about the health of the foal, you just want the cheapest thing you can find!
If you choose to buy a foal from a reputable and quality breeder, this breeder is responsible for the health of each foal.
This breeder will skip vacations, lack sleep, and spend most of their personal time devoted to their horses and their wellbeing. The really passionate breeder, who loves what he reproduces, devotes all his time to it. Not only for the foals that are sold, but for each customer who owns a piece of his heart and is now part of his big family. Breeders worry about their babies after they're gone.
A breeder gets his hands dirty, often covered in everything that comes with birth. Cuz this is the life... In the middle of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps on turning A good breeder performs ultrasound, analysis, emergency vet calls, vaccinations, registrations, pedigree research, worming, hoof trimming and provides the basic start for the foal's future in handling and bathing.
Last but not least, a breeder CHOOSES the family who is lucky enough to have one of his foals. Yes, you read it well.
A real breeder chooses who they sell to.
There really is no compensation that can compensate the investment a breeder has made.
A good breeder has other criteria for those who want to continue their lineage, why? Because breeding is not a responsibility to be taken lightly, it's a life choice reserved ONLY for the few dedicated people willing to sacrifice.
Since a foal is never "just a pet", he/she is the breeder's legacy, a little boy's best friend, a little girl's guardian, therapy for the elderly, a family member, someone's whole world!
Responsible breeding and owning several horses is a lifestyle and commitment that many cannot understand.
7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Our lives revolve around horses!
