We provide animal control services for all unincorporated areas of La Porte County and we also operate the county animal shelter. We enforce municipal ordinances and laws governing animal control and protection and we provide a safe and caring environment for animals in need.

Here’s Penny Lane again🤗

This big kitty is approx 6 years old and would much prefer a quiet, stress free home all to herself.

She is in a community cat room and typically is pretty sedentary and just watches the other cats from her favorite spots, so she can co-exist with others.

She does not appreciate dogs.

She can be a bit of a sugar and spice kind of cat, at least here, maybe she’d be different in a quieter environment, but she’s not above swatting or “nipping” when her patience wears thin.

She just wants a quiet home with a window seat.

Also, she loves to eat 😘

This distinguished gentleman is Bingo🖤🤎🤍

Bingo is a senior dog that came to us as a stray. We do not know his history, we just know what we have learned so far about him.

What we know… he is neutered. He is likely over 10 years old. He does have some instability in his back legs so he needs someone that can physically help him when/if he needs assistance. (He is over 75 pounds) He also seems to be at least partially deaf.

❗️He does NOT enjoy the presence of other dogs, at least not in “his personal space” and he’s not shy about announcing his frustrations❗️

We hesitate to say he needs a “hospice home”, but that may indeed be the case. We obviously can’t be sure how much time he has before his back end gives out on him altogether and we would love nothing more than to see him live out the rest of his life in a loving home where he can be content and comfortable ❣️

Little Miss Solstice went to a foster home and it was quickly decided that she was actually in her FOREVER home🤗

Her new name is Pepper and she has quickly stolen the hearts of her new family, both human and feline🤗

Oh Earl🩶

Not in a big hurry to do anything or go anywhere😜

Earl is just Earl. No, that was not his original name. He came to us as a stray, but we must say, we nailed it with this name because Earl just fits him. He’s like one of the guys. Once you get to know him and he gets to know you, you’ll be playing cards together on the porch in no time😬

This big ole block-head is Biscoff 🤗

This dog has ZERO idea of how big he is. He is pretty much a gentle-giant. He’s got a massively thick head and long legs and he just kind of lumbers around😬

The more we get to know him, the more we fall in love with him❣️

🤎Approx 2-3 years old
🐾Neutered just last week
🤎Came to us as a STRAY so we do not know his history or if he would be safe with children. We have introduced him to other animals which went VERY well, but again, we can NEVER guarantee behavior or safety with other animals.
🐾He has a somewhat calm, gentle natured presence about him. Although we have seen some signs of flinching when there is quick hand motions in his presence so we can’t rule out that he has had some bad life experiences😢

BISCOFF needs a forever home❣️
