We are still as busy as ever and it was quickly apparent that we won't have any downtime this summer. Within the last week we finished up a couple more Black Bears, that Blue Wildebeest, and a couple more batches of Whitetails! At any given time there's hides either thawing, salting, or in pickle. We pull capes out of the freezers every single day in order to keep the work flow going. We're very busy but wouldn't have it any other way!

Pretty cool Blue Wildebeest from Africa we just finished up! This guy was salted over 2 years ago, shipped across the world, and had zero slippage! For not being a real massive cape, we still shaved off over 8 gallons of skin to get this guy thin enough to have decent stretch!

The 1st photo is of a 6 foot Canadian Black Bear fresh out of the pickle and the 2nd photo is the same bear that's been shaved. This bear is about as thin as it can go and will make for a great skin for the taxidermist to transform into a beautiful bear rug for his customer!

Here's just a handful of skulls that were cleaned by us! We usually only post about the tanning side of the business but our skull tanks haven't been turned off since bear season! We process a ton of heads annually and are still getting trophies in on a regular basis! We don't care if your skulls are rotten, dried, frozen, stinky, or fresh!

Here are a few in-process photos of a large Minnesota Bison! This big guy started out anywhere between half inch to three quarters of an inch thick across the entire 9-10 foot hide! I shaved it down to about the thickness of a dish towel which is going to make for a very soft and leather. This one will be 100% completed within the next week! Good thing that this was a fun project because we have several to do! We'll post a photo once it's been blown out and brushed!

This 7.5 foot Black Bear weighed approximately 450 pounds! Just a massive animal! This big boar totaled a mini van close to the shop and only suffered minor road rash. I am very happy that I was able to save this impressive hide! And the meat!

Now this is a special bear! This is a super blonde Black Bear that was harvested in Canada. This one is all tanned and ready to be rugged by the taxidermist! Just shy of a 6 foot bear.
