Congratulations to Officer Laehr and K9 Copper. Teaming up to do good in the City of Craig Colorado and surrounding areas. Copper will go through training over the next couple months to detect illegal narcotics and patrol work. This is going to be a fun team to watch over develop together over the next year or two.

OPINION…. Nose work for dogs is supposed to be fun, challenging, real world application as best as possible. Here is our scent wall for our training today. Built in distractions, patterns, operational challenges. Make it fun or they don’t want to do it. Can you find the odor hidden without the dogs nose touching it? I asked a delivery driver on lunch break if he could find it I’d give him $20. He had 3 minutes to find the odor the odor is a stainless steel can that I could visibly see cause I knew where it was from 35 yards away. He was not able to locate it in the time frame. The 9 month old K9 “Ares” was able to locate in. 27 seconds. Have fun, Train smart, work hard, fix issues, repeat forever.
