All adoptions are done by appointment after an application has been submitted. Assisting the animals of Lapeer County by sheltering, facilitating adoptions, providing education, promoting spay/neuter and community outreach.

JERRY LEE

Not sure how this big, beautiful boy is still at the shelter. He absolutely loves people. He has been at animal control since April. He had many people interested in him at the adoption event, but no one adopted. 💔Jerry Lee is a typical shepherd, a little high strung and vocal, but he is a great dog. He will need supervision outside due to his fence jumping habit. He is very active and loves to be outside going for walks. He does better with slow intros to other dogs. He could use some basic obedience. He has an adorable way of sitting, he will turn away from you at first, sit and lean his body against you, then look up at you, it's very cute.😍

This guy is a looker! 👀He is big and beautiful with piercing blue-eyes. We can't believe he hasn't been adopted yet.❓❓Caesar is very active, loves to be outside in the runs or talking a walk. He walks well on leash. He is dog selective, he does great next to Rocco in the runs.

Adorable and handsome boy, Rocco is very vocal, active and fun, loves to run and play. 🥎He would benefit from obedience training. He is very smart and learns quickly. We've been working on jumping, he is doing well when asked to sit.
He likes many different dogs, but is not a fan of cats. 😾

Great all-around dog. Dasher is super smart and loving. He's calm and quiet in his kennel. He is very focused on training, is eager to learn new things, he even knows a few tricks and loves treats. He likes a lot of different dogs. Dasher has had meet & greets, but unfortunately, he prefers calmer dogs, so it didn't work out. Come and meet Dasher, you will love him.😍

A volunteer favorite, this sweet little guy is very shy at first, but once you get to know him, he is so loving and cuddly. Romeo would benefit from basic obedience, he can get mouthy and jumpy when he is excited, so no small children. He would stay out all day and chase a ball or play with his stuffed toy. He is dog selective, but he did really well in the outdoor runs next to Hermione who is 6 months old.😊

MAGGIE🌺

Sweet as can be, Maggie found herself at the shelter since March due to her owner passing away. This senior would love a quiet place to rest her head and a fur brother or sister to play with. She still has alotta pep in her step. Despite her age and weight she gets around pretty well, even jumping up on the picnic table at times. Look how adorable she is trying to play with the Hound (see video). On most days, you will find her rolling in the grass and sunning herself, she loves to be outside. MAX

Max has been at Animal Control for 240 days, our 3rd longest resident. We have had two of our longest residents adopted lately, so it would be wonderful if Max was next. He is such a beautiful tiger brindle color and a great boy. It's hard to believe he hasn't been adopted yet. Max is very active. He loves to go on walks and run to fetch his tennis ball. He is very smart and picks up on training very well and loves his peanut butter enrichment. He will need to be supervised while outside due to his passion for escaping enclosures and exploring the world. He is dog selective but loves to be around people and is good with kids.
