The weather has changed on us and lots of people are dealing with ice now. If you have your horse scheduled to come swim and has shoes on, PLEASE remember to keep ice studs out of their shoes the cycle they swim to help prevent extra wear on my mat. I know lots of facility won’t allow shoes at all and I don’t want to take that away from what the horses need!

Our yard is icy and we are over it but with extra caution walking to the building we are making sure no one slips and falls! Our pens are ice free as of right now and hopefully it stays this way!

Happy Winter Solstice Day! ❄️

The weather is unfortunately changing on us outside ❄️

For those that have horses booked to swim in the spring here are some things that I have found to help your horse while swimming

- try to keep some fitness on your horse through out the winter to help you get the most bang for your buck swimming

- I highly recommend blanketing a week or so prior to swimming (even a light blanket is fine) to help your horse’s hair lay down as this helps them dry off faster. I will continue with the blanketing while they are here swimming! Horses here to go back outside after they are COMPLETELY dry post swim to stretch their legs until their next swim session the next day.

- ‼️this is a big one‼️in the past I have allowed horses to come in with shoes on if they are for therapeutic purposes. This year and continuing on, if your horse has therapeutic shoes on, I ask that during their cycle that they will be swimming, please keep the ice studs out. I try my hardest to tape as much as I can but those ice studs wear through the tape which is affecting my mat.

- I’ve had people ask, I will also be offering open arena times/ arena rentals through out the winter as well. I am still riding and doing lessons so some times might not be available but please always message or text to check availability.

Now let’s all go enjoy this nice weather that is forecasted for this coming week! And Happy Futurity week to everyone! 🎉

Let’s treat your horse to a Christmas gift with some swimming! 🎄🎅

Open swimming spots:

1 the first part of January
2 the second part of January
1 the first part of February

Let me know if you’d like a spot! Swim in January and have your horse ready for the winter jackpot series that might pop up later in the winter! I’ll do the hard work for you during the coldest months!

Or any of these spots can be booked for ground work and introduction to saddling for youngster or a mannerism tune up!

And added bonus; on the nice days come ride in the indoor as all swimming clients are able to use the indoor at no extra charge! 💪

*I do take well behaved studs

Ps your horse will gladly take this Christmas gift is the start the process of looking like this ⬇️

Do we ever jealous of a horse?! Well that’s a silly question when they get to leave the cold tundra and go to the warm sunny skies of Arizona for the winter, we definitely get jealous!!

This handsome guy headed home yesterday to pack for sunny AZ after swimming for a few weeks rehabbing an injury! We can’t wait to hear how he feels with some rides under saddle before hitting the roping pen! We wish him and his owner safe travels to AZ and all the luck in the roping pen this winter! ☀️

Fun fact: he lost 45 lbs during his stay!! 💪

For everyone wondering where all the outbreaks are, EDCC created a page specifically for the EHM Outbreaks and breaks it down state by state!

THIS IS A REPUTABLE SOURCE, FOLLOW THIS AND VET PAGES FOR THE CORRECT INFORMATION, NOT RANDOM FACEBOOK COMMENTS!!

The Equine Disease Communication Center is monitoring an outbreak of EHM that originated at the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) World Finals and Elite Barrel Race event Nov 5-9. To date, officially confirmed cases have been reported in the following states-

With the heartbreaking outbreak of EHV in Texas and with events also going on in Oklahoma, at this time we will not be allowing haul ins for the arena. I know this has not affected North Dakota yet (hopefully it doesn’t) but I will be proactive as I’ve seen EHV cases first hand and it’s so heartbreaking!

I also have client horses that will be traveling soon and I’m not going to risk it for them.

Thank you all for your understanding! 🫶🏼

This is not a post to panic call or text your vet! There are no current cases in North Dakota. With running a business, I am taking precautionary measures so my client horses that will be heading down south soon can get a clean bill of health on their health certificates!

IN TEXAS

We have confirmed exposure risk for horses that attended the WPRA Finals on November 4-9 or the 377 Arena on November 15 and 16. If your horse was at either location, quarantine immediately for the next 14 days and do not leave the premises during this time.

If you have an appointment with us, please do not unload your horses. You may come inside to check in, but keep your horses in the trailer until a staff member comes out to assist you. This helps protect every horse on the property.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗘𝗛𝗩 𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀
EHV spreads through nose to nose contact, shared buckets or tack, contaminated trailers, airborne droplets from coughing or snorting, and from people who handle exposed horses.

𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵
- Fever (Over 101.5)
- Nasal discharge
- Lethargy
- Hind end weakness or wobbliness
- Loss of tail tone or urine dribbling

Some cases progress to the neurological form, EHM, which is a medical emergency. Take temperatures twice daily and monitor closely.

Do not panic. Just be proactive. Good biosecurity, quarantine, and early symptom monitoring go a long way toward keeping your horse and the community safe.

If you have concerns or notice any symptoms, call immediately.

Have you ever seen a mini donkey swim on the Aqua Pacer?! Well now you have!!

With donkeys becoming such a popular animal to own, if you are considering having one, please read up on their care! Fat donkeys aren’t healthy donkeys as they can end up having Hyperlipaemia. What is that you may ask? Well, Hyperlipaemia, a disease caused by too much fat in the blood which can kill a donkey.

I have attached a few articles on donkey care. Please read up on these if you own a donkey or are considering getting one! I learned a bunch from reading these articles that The Donkey Sanctuary in the UK has wrote!
