It’s really hot outside. But when little guys are in a bad way I can’t say no. Especially when the giant box fan gives them hairstyles like an 80s rock band music video. Rock on little dudes!

Check out my new kitchen knife I’m calling the “Emma” with ebony wood handle, a polyurethane and copper bolster and 15n20 full tang steel blade. I made one for my daughter a few years ago and it’s the most popular knife in our kitchen.

They are building up steam to power the saw mill. It’s a beautiful day here at the hocking county fairgrounds in Logan Ohio. I hope you guys come out to see the sights at this year’s Ag Days. Antique tractors, hit and miss engines, petting zoo, etc. I can smell the food booths and the home made pork rinds. Plus a couple semi trained gorillas doing some team striking and blacksmithing demonstrations.

My suppliers due to economic reasons have raised their prices a good bit for my farrier tools and supplies. Not their fault it’s just economics. But due to their increase I’m going to have to increase my prices as well in June. Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Something to think about with everything that’s going on in the national spotlight: The tariffs are going to drive up the prices on many of the products that are in your home. Things that depend on foreign manufacturers will slowly raise to the price of artisan made products that are already higher quality. If you’re on here you already know that I’m a very patriotic person but that’s not why I’m typing this. My camping gear and knives are better quality than anything you can buy at box stores. My brother in law can make you a vastly superior end table or lamp, Dave’s twisted ironworks is sturdier than anything in the lawn and garden section, Lockhart ironworks makes a better frying pan, hatfeather forge has more creative designs than anything made by foreign manufacturers. There’s glassware in Logan, there’s jewelry in Athens, handmade brooms in McArthur and beautiful artwork in Galia county. Very soon the box store junk that all of us have purchased for years (myself included) are going to be at comparable prices to quality, local, handmade goods. Head to your local craft shows, look up your local artisans. Purchase something that you’ll be able to pass down to the next generation with a story better than “I picked this up at Walmart” and have the peace of mind that comes with knowing you put food on the table of a local craftsman.
