No walk ins allowed without approved applications! In June of 2015, the Grant County Humane Society (GCHS) became an official 501(c)3 organization housed in a separate room at the Lancaster Veterinary Clinic in Lancaster, Wisconsin, for two main reasons:
A place needed for Grant County surrendered animals
An organization that allows donations to be tax deductible

Main Directives:
As a newer organization, the GCHS has two main directives:
-Develop protocols for animal care, adoption, fostering and volunteering.
-Build and sustain an involved volunteer corps to continuously expand and improve our services. Long Range Goals:
-Fundraise for a building
-Fundraise for operating costs
-Endowment development to cover long range costs (after building)
-Develop yearly community outreach programs
-Hold yearly educational programs

Yesterday morning was a very big day here at Lancaster Vet Clinic....it involved two of Grant County Humane Society Alumni's finest..Rudd (the beautiful pitty boy who has been a blood donor himself!) and Jaina (saint bernard diva)!
Sadly, Rudd..now Harvey has taken a tough turn in his health. He has been battling kidney issues, and needed a blood transfusion as part of a plan to help him feel better! Jaina without hesitation offered to donate...Dr. Cari and Jaina's Mom and technician Megan headed up the procedure and we couldn't have asked for all to go better! Harvey has a big mountain to climb, and he could use BIG prayers, positive vibes, and all the good juju! This has been emotionally draining for Harvey's loving family and they never left his side during all of this..HUGE thank you going out to all the caring staff here at LVC and especially Dr.Cari..24 hours out, he's resting comfortably hoping between this blood and the medicine combination gets this boy back on track, and hopefully he can enjoy a ride on the gator today! Pray for Harvey friends. ❤️

Our precious little Abner has been adopted! This sweet little nugget didn't last long once this family saw him! He's going to have another beautiful cat sibling who has been very lonely since losing his best cat friend to old age...cant wait to see updates on this union! Happy adoption day beautiful!

Fisher and Horace came to us on completely separate occasions..but as you can see..they are not leaving that way! Thats correct! The minute this amazing couple showed interest in getting these two, we put them together, and they did great!! They are young and I feel like it will only get better with time...especially in such a good wholesome environment! They are now Jake (Horace)and Elwood (Fisher) They will be so well loved and cared for! With winter knocking on the door, this feels so good knowing they're safe! These brother's adoption was sponsored by Kathleen Ditmanson Adams in loving memory of the late Dee Rowe! Animal advocate and Grant county humane society board member!

LOST 🐈
"orange and white long-haired male cat, 6 yrs old, neutered. He went missing from our home in Dodgeville on North Douglas street, on Monday the 19th. We have notified vets, humane societies, put a used litter box out, an item of mine, and food when we are home.

Not like him to get out, the one or two times that it's happened since we've had him he immediately just goes around to the back door to be let back in. Very unusual. His name is pumpkin, also goes by the nickname of Nunkin, and Nunckelbean.

When butternut was brought in we could clearly see his GI system was not good.. The person that previously had him had done a lot of vet care for him, so we were hoping a simple diet..ID prescription food would fix the problem.. This couple, in the meantime, applied for him, and met him..they even held him with towels on their lap to avoid a mess..they didn't care! They instantly loved him..Unfortunately the food change didn't do enough. We opted for a more extensive panel to have sent off.. A week later the results came in, pinpointing a virus..we had to order the meds, and almost instantly he was way better! This great couple waited for the green light and today they were able to take their boy home! Butternut will keep his name, and he will be so very loved!! Happy adoption day sweetheart! Today, when they came back, they were so pleased with how good he looked!

This is 6-7 year old Gretta! She needs to be the only dog in the home..She is a beautiful Saint Bernard lady who hasn't had the best start to life. She was owned as a breeding female the majority of her early days...She then was moved to a different home, but still needed something better. A very caring family took her in with full intentions of giving her some beautiful retirement years, but she was showing too much unpredicted agression toward another rescue in the home, and they just couldn't gamble with that so here she is with us. On arrival she needed to be spayed, and deal with some uninary issues, and tick borne diseases. With us she is doing great. She seriously just needs to go to a Saint loving family. One who UNDERSTANDS the wants and needs of a big gal like her. She is just under 100 pounds, but we'd like to see her a little bigger! This girl wants to be the center of your world, and just live the life she deserves. She will need to stay on a good uninary vet recommended food. Flea and tick prevention and the means to afford these things is imperative! She was oblivious to the cats at her latest home, but I would always always recommend slow introductions!
