Adoption Application: https://grantcountyhumanesociety.com/adoption-application In June of 2015, the Grant County Humane Society (GCHS) became an official 501(c)3 organization housed in a separate room at the Lancaster Veterinary Clinic in Lancaster, Wisconsin, for two main reasons:
A place needed for Grant County

surrendered animals
An organization that allows donations to be tax deductible

Main Directives:
As a newer organization, the GCHS has two main directives:
-Develop protocols for animal care, adoption, fostering and volunteering.
-Build and sustain an involved volunteer corps to continuously expand and improve our services. Long ­Range Goals:
-Fundraise for a building
-Fundraise for operating costs
-Endowment development to cover long ­range costs (after building)
-Develop yearly community outreach programs
-Hold yearly educational programs

When Maggie woke up today, she was ready to go on an adventure. She walked into the Humane Society, full of confidence and ready to meet some new people. No fault of her own, of course...at the ripe age of 10-11, she just needed to go a different direction. If it wasn't for that grey muzzle (and telling me). I'd question it. (Her teeth tell us too) She just seems so young. Young at heart, we guess.
Please share her post. Without shares, the "Days in shelter" get long, and we need to make room for all the Maggies out there. With a lot of exposure, we can get her a great next home. She will need to be examined, all the things required, and will go into our adoptable pets album. We will seek a quiet, easy-going home. We know she was with another dog, kids, but not cats. "Half American bully (mom on site), half bernese mountain dog (dad). They were born on Nov. 20th 2024. I have 3 males and 2 females that are looking for homes. I have given all of them 3 rounds of the 5 in 1 vaccine from farm & fleet. Most are potty trained, all know the sit command. They are all sweethearts and amazing w children. Transformation Tuesday! Daisy style! 🤣🤭🫤

Our Pyrenees princess PROMISED she wouldn't find a mud hole if we let her in the grassy run, but as you can see...she clearly must have "accidentally" walked in one! Oh, she's a sweetheart! She has been spayed, healing up nicely..she's 11 months old now. She seems ok with other big dogs...smaller were the initial problem, so that's a no go. Cats were ok..I honestly think she can learn so much yet in all behavioral departments. She came in being treated for urinary issues, and is doing great. We still want to promote good urinary health, so food for that we will want! That comes with a cost, so wanting any potential home to know that's a thing! This 8-9 month boy is Cash. He's located near Boscobel. He's current on vaccinations, microchipped. Not neutered yet. Good with kids, cats, other dogs, but obviously I would go slow. He's a heeler, so he needs to keep busy, and have a job! It's important to this breed or they get frustrated. Happy Good Friday evening!
You remember Gemma, the sweet girl left behind in a cold dark garage after her family moved away...Yes, they would stop in and feed her kibble, but you could clearly see she was terribly neglected. The physical and emotional damage was just about to take its toll. Local law enforcement helped get her to us, and the healing began. We watched her trust again, love again, and finally feel safe. Last week this amazing family met her, and after a couple very good visits we knew she would fit perfectly with this family. I'm not gonna lie, as Courtney and I watched her drive away looking back at us as to say, "thank you" it was SO satisfying. Good prevails once again thanks to our amazing support! She's spending her Easter weekend snuggling her sisters, new parents, car rides, walks, treats, a new warm bed, and a safe loving home. They understand the patience she'll need to fully thrive and they are ready to give that to her! Happy adoption day Gemma! 🐾🐰💐😍🐕🏠

Our precious little Opal has gone home! This amazing lady met Opal last week with her boy Humphrey..He was absolutely so sweet with her! She knew right away she had to bring her home ♡ Today she came to get her! Sweet Opal will be Sophie, and she will know what love is....This chapter will be her best! Humphrey is the same age as her, and they can grow up together for many more years! Happy adoption day beautiful 😍 This. is. rescue. 🐕🐕

Last week we had to have our sweet boy Orion's eye removed...initially we hoped even though he was blind in it, he could keep it, but it was really causing him some discomfort, and just very prone to infection. It's pretty clear he feels MUCH better! He's still healing but is doing fantastic! Oh, this boy has been through so much. Parasites, ringworm, potty issues, eye problems....you name it. To see him, you'd NEVER know! He's So spunky and sweet. He's getting very close to his next chapter....a furever home! We've received a few applications, always welcome more...but just wanted to give a little update! His bio is under photo's, albums, "adoptable animals" and you can click the google link to apply! Peyton is still waiting for that perfect home! The last few weeks however, she was lucky enough to get out, and test the water if you will....I wanted to see if she COULD co-exist with another her size dog... And at the end of the day she probably couldn't.... She would be best by herself, and after all this time she deserves to be by herself..getting ALL the love, all the attention, toys, treats, walks... This doesn't mean she cannot spend the day with a family dog...go to dog parks and be among them.... It means at the end of the day she wants you all to herself and she will express that. I want to share a paragraph written by the amazing family who had her these last few weeks..(I can't commend you enoughfor this). Much of what we knew but we needed to validate it after the all this time...

"What we learned about Peyton: Peyton is a people dog - she loves her people and listens well to her master. She is a guardian so she wants to survey her surroundings and protect her family. She would do best as the only dog in the home, no small children or small animals. She meets other dogs well, but wants her family's attention and love all to herself, and she deserves it. She is a counter surfer, so everything needs to be put away (easy fix). She walks well on a leash and even better on a harness. She has a prey drive and wants to chase squirrels, bunnies, etc. I believe with training, this can be reduced. She is a strong girl and she is smart! She listens very well and just wants to please. If we didn't have another dog, we wouldn't need to make this post because she would be ours. But I want what's best for Peyton and that's a Master or Masters of her own and lots of adventures. If you want a loyal companion for years, this is your girl!..

I believe that timing is everything and there's gotta be that 1 person just waiting for a girl like Peyton. No other pets... And she seems to mesh well with older bigger kids...Click here to apply for Peyton...

Good morning from Harmony! We recently received some beautifully hand crafted beds, and Harmony thought this one was the absolute best! She is the most sweetest girl. She is coming out of her little shell more each day and it so awesome watching her! She initially was surrendered by her owner when he moved and the landlord wouldn't allow her..It was very sad for both of them, but I know we can restore that happiness with the purrrfect home! Seriously, she's beautiful. See her bio under our adoptable pets album! She's a young kitty...seems fine with others. "This is Sandy. She is a 2.5 year old doberman and great pyrenees mix located in Freeport, IL. She is the sweetest girl and does great with all of my kids and the shenanigans they do. She also loves her dog friends once she is properly introduced. The reason we are sadly deciding to rehome her though is because she also loves to be outside. So much so that she is a true escape artist. Her greatest desire seems to be to do her job guarding our property from every car that drives past on our busy road. We feel she would truly thrive on some property away from a busy road. She is spayed and microchipped, but will need another rabies shot in May.
