🌾🐾 **Foxtail Season is Here — Protect Your Pets!** 🐾🌾

Did you know that a tiny grass seed could cause **big trouble** for your dog or cat?

**Foxtails** are barbed w**d seeds that can burrow into your pet’s skin, ears, eyes, nose—even lungs! Once inside, they don’t stop moving and can cause **painful infections**, abscesses, or even life-threatening complications.

🚨 **Watch for these signs: **
🔹 Excessive sneezing or head shaking
🔹 Swollen or draining wounds
🔹 Limping or constant paw licking
🔹 Sudden squinting or eye discharge

✅ **What you can do:**
✔ Avoid tall dry grasses on walks
✔ Check your pet daily—especially paws, mouth, ears, eyes, and nose
✔ Keep fur trimmed, especially on long-haired pets
✔ See your vet ASAP if you suspect a foxtail!

🩺 **When in doubt, check it out!** Foxtails are more than a nuisance—they’re a potential emergency. Early detection can save your pet from serious harm.

A recently concluded Dechra sponsored dinner meeting, RACE approved CE, presented by Julie Kluxdal, DVM followed by a meet and greet with our very own, Dr. Solacito held at the Greater Good Veterinary Care hospital on Dec. 11, 2024.

Thanks to our proud sponsors, Gaby for efficiently organizing the event, the support of our Midwest Territory Manager, Zach and of course, the attendance of our community practitioners. We look forward to meeting again and working together to enrich the Veterinary practice in the AV area.

Thor, a curious young Goldendoodle, recently found himself in a sticky situation when his tongue got stuck in the hole of his treat ball. 😟 His loving family rushed him to our GGVC Emergency Hospital, where our skilled veterinary team quickly stepped in to help.

To safely free Thor, we had to sedate him and carefully cut the toy off his tongue. Thanks to his family’s quick action and our team’s expertise, Thor is now on the mend and back to his playful self! 🎉🐕

This serves as a gentle reminder to always keep an eye on your pets when they’re enjoying toys, and ensure they’re the right size and shape to prevent accidents like this.

We’re so proud of Thor’s bravery and grateful for the opportunity to provide the care he needed. 💖 If your furry friend ever finds themselves in an emergency, we’re here to help.
