ORCA - Organization for Responsible Care of Animals

ORCA'S primary goal is to rescue any ill, injured, or in-distress animal, in Lancaster County. This is why donations are so VITALLY important.

It is the purpose of ORCA to respond 24 hours a day to emergencies, and to provide support to police, fire, and other emergency personnel when they are dealing with situations that involve animals. ORCA does not routinely handle healthy stray animals and wildlife, nor does it routinely shelter animals. Please bear in mind that ORCA is currently the ONLY group in Lancaster County that provides emer

gency services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to help our area animals, free of charge!! If you would like to send us a monetary donation, please check out our website. Meet Marble!

Marble came to us, along with Prue, in an unfortunate situation involving his previous owner. He is a sweet boy who loves to be pet and get attention from our staff. He’s active and curious, usually watching everything that’s going on from his favorite spot. He would love a human to just hang out with and give him love! Marble does well with other cats and dogs. He is approx. 2 years old, neutered, and fully vaccinated.

Please send our newest rescue, Cleo, all of your positive thoughts! She will be getting her bad eye enucleated this morning at Manheim Pike Vet.

Meet Prue!

Prue came to us, along with Marble (he's on our website!), in an unfortunate situation involving his previous owner. Prue is a gentle, laid back girl. She usually is napping in her favorite spot, keeping to herself. She likes attention and pets. Prue does well with other cats and has some experience with dogs and has done well. She is approx. 2 years old, fully vaccinated and spayed.

UPDATE! Junior has been adopted!🩵

Meet Junior!

Junior came to us with an abscess and very swollen front leg. Everything healed and cleared up fine and he’s been in great shape! Junior is extremely social and lovey. He loves to hang out with the staff. He also loves sprinting, doing zoomies, and playing with toys. He is very outgoing! Junior does well with the other cats and dogs. He is so laid back he would fit into just about any household! He would also do very well with young kids. Junior is approx. 1 year old, neutered, and fully vaccinated.

Meet Gracie!

Gracie came to us after her finder realized she had a pretty severe ear infection. We took her in and Helping Hands for Animals was able to get her in to spay her, and also address her medical issues. Along with the ear infection, she had a polyp causing the infection, dental issues, and a wound on her neck. She was treated for all these and has healed very well. Gracie is will needs lots of time and space to open up to humans. She has been pretty standoffish with the staff, but her finder had been able to pet her while she was living outside near her. Gracie will do best in a quieter home without dogs and small children. She does well with the other cats and occasionally likes to play with toys. Gracie is approx. 1 year old, spayed, and fully vaccinated.

Happy June! We're starting off the month by introducing Logan!

Logan came to us with a burst abscess on his his neck. It healed well and he is going great! Logan is laid back but very lovey. He loves to find a little cubbie to take naps in if he’s not jumping into the staff members lap for attention. He is very easy going and gets along well with the other cats and dogs. Logan is approx. 2 years old, neutered, and fully vaccinated.

We’re SO excited that our sweet boy Palmer (formerly Zeus) has found his forever home! He went home yesterday with Taylor, a vet tech from Manheim Pike Vet. She helped with his surgery and recovery and fell in love with him!

Meet Dill!!

Dill came to us with some wounds around his neck and face. The wounds healed up well and he is doing great! Dill is very sweet and outgoing. He loves to get attention from staff and rub up on their legs. He is very friendly. Dill also gets along great with the other cats and has been around dogs and did well. He is very playful and loves all the toys around the office. Dill is approx. 1 year old, neutered, and fully vaccinated.
