Karing Hands' Standard Poodles & Dog Boarding

Karing Hands' Standard Poodles & Dog Boarding My name is Kari Williams and I am excited to offer you the services of KARIng Hands Pet Sitting and Boarding. We've been there ourselves!

My mission is to provide Individualized Attention for your Pets and Home. Even if you are not leaving home, there may be instances where I can be of service. Unusual working hours or illnesses may make it necessary for you to need my help. When those times arise, I am just a phone call away. Pets:
We currently have 6 dogs of our own (2 Chihuahuas, 2 yorkies, and 2 standard poodles), 8 barn cats, 2

birds, 6 cows and 3 calves, 2 horses, and a very old donkey! We have raised dogs, cats, rats, raccoons, deer, a monkey, rabbits, fish, birds, horses, goats, cows, and a prairie dog throughout our lives. I understand how hard it can be to work a full time job and give your pets the attention they need and deserve. Too many pet owners love their pets, but don't always have the time and/or energy to give the what they require. Owning a pet-sitting and boarding business allows me to help pet owners with this dilemma, making it easier to have happier, healthier pets and owners. Before moving to the Lampasas area in 2001, we lived in Lakeway where I worked for a Veterinary Clinic for over 6 years. In that time I had several clients that would ask me to care for their pets while they were away. I loved this part of my job, but I had to give that all up when we moved to Lampasas. We now live on 130 acres outside of Lampasas. After moving to Lampasas, I was frequently asked by friends to take care of their pets or large animals while they were away. So, I started thinking, we need a pet sitter and boarding service in this area. I understand the challenges of trying to get away and worrying about the care of your beloved pets and large animals. There were no boarding facilities or pet sitters in the area and sometimes it is hard to find a neighbor or a friend nearby to lend a helping hand. Whether you are new to the area, or not, you can rest assured that your pet will be treated as if it is my own.

As some of you may know, Clint has Polycystic kidney disease and is in kidney failure:( This is what he is facing now, and his treatment options are limited to dialysis or a kidney transplant.
His kidneys are only functioning at 4% and he is now getting dialysis three times a week for four+ hours at a time. This treatment helps his kidneys do their job and keep him alive, but a transplant would offer him more freedom and the ability to live a longer, healthier, more normal life.
However, finding a kidney for a transplant is not easy. There are 100,000+ people on the waiting list for a deceased donor kidney like Clint. Time is not on our side. Some wait for years; many die while waiting. The average wait time is five years or more for a kidney from a deceased donor. However, there is another option:
receiving a kidney from a living donor.
Asking a family member or a friend to consider donating a kidney to Clint is difficult, but it greatly improves his chances of getting a transplant. A living kidney donation typically lasts longer and has better function.
You might not know a lot about living donation - I know I did not! Understandably, some people are afraid about the surgery and what living with one kidney will mean for them. Here is some basic information about kidney donation:

You only need one kidney to live a healthy, long life.
Most donor surgery is done laparoscopically, meaning through tiny incisions.
The recuperation period is usually fairly quick, generally two weeks.
The cost of your evaluation and surgery will be covered by our insurance. The hospital can give you extensive information on this.
You will have a separate team of healthcare professionals to evaluate you as a living donor. Their job is to help you understand the risks and benefits and look out for YOUR best interests.

You can also learn more about living donation on the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) website: www.kidney.org/livingdonation or by contaction the NKF's free, confidential helpline at 855.NKF.CARES (855.653.2273) or [email protected]. If you want to talk to someone who has already donated a kidney, NKF can also help. Thank you for taking the time to read this long post.
If donating a kidney to Clint is something you would like to consider, the first step is for you to complete the confidential online health history questionnaire.

LivingDonorTemple.org

Once you have completed this questionnaire, your information will be reviewed by a living donor coordinator. Clint's full name is Clint Williams and his date of birth is 07/10/1971. If you are a possible candidate, the coordinator will contact you to review your health history questionnaire and answer any questions you may have.
