In the heart of Downtown Lamar, a unique pet grooming experience is quietly raising the standard for how our four-legged friends are cared for. 𝗧𝗶𝗱𝘆 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝘄𝗹𝗼𝗿, owned and operated by Christina Staup, is more than just a grooming business—it’s a place where dogs receive individualized attention in a calm, one-on-one environment.
Since opening in October 2024, Christina has built Tidy Tails around a simple but powerful philosophy: every dog deserves to feel safe and special during the grooming process. That commitment is evident in every appointment, as Tidy Tails operates on a one-dog-at-a-time model, allowing each pet to receive focused attention from start to finish.
Located at 𝟭𝟮𝟱 𝗦. 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿, the shop has quickly become a standout addition to the downtown district. From its welcoming atmosphere to its creative touches, Tidy Tails offers a grooming experience that feels both personal and community driven. Customers are often greeted not just by Christina, but also by her miniature poodle and official shop “assistant,” Patricia, who sets the tone with a warm (and often vocal) welcome.
Adding to the shop’s charm is its ever-changing window artwork, created by Art by Leandra. Each month, the storefront features new seasonal designs hand-painted by local artist Leandra Chavez, bringing a fresh and creative energy to Downtown Lamar. As of April 1st, the display will also highlight Tidy Tails’ new “Dog of the Month” contest winner—an initiative that celebrates local pets while rewarding winners with 20% off their next grooming appointment. Entries close on the last Friday of each month, so be sure to get your dog’s name in the hat. And if you’re looking to boost your chances… a few extra toys and treats for Patricia might not hurt, since she gets the final say.
Christina’s journey into business ownership is rooted in her love for animals and her desire to do things differently. Rather than prioritizing volume, she has built her business around quality and care, ensuring each dog receives the time and attention it deserves. Taking the leap into entrepreneurship wasn’t without its challenges, especially in the early days of building a client base and establishing her reputation. But through persistence and community support, Tidy Tails has grown into a business that is now booked months in advance—a testament to both the quality of service and the trust she has built with her clients.
That growth has recently led to an exciting milestone: the opening of a new, larger location at the corner of Main and Olive. The expanded space not only enhances the customer experience but also creates opportunities for future growth, including the addition of retail products and the potential to bring on additional staff.
Behind the scenes, Christina credits much of her success to the strong support system around her. From her parents and future father-in-law, Jerry Weber, to her soon-to-be husband Quinton, she has been surrounded by people who have helped bring her vision to life. Christina & Patricia especially want to express their gratitude to Q for the countless hours of hands-on work he’s put into building and shaping the new shop. She also extends a heartfelt thank you to her good friends Josh and Shelby, who played an important role in the remodel process and have supported her every step of the way throughout the journey.
That support extends far beyond family. The overwhelming turnout and encouragement shown at Tidy Tails’ grand opening and ribbon cutting at the new Main Street location was a powerful reminder of how much this community rallies behind its small businesses. Tidy Tails is truly a community-supported effort, built not only on hard work and passion, but on the people who continue to show up and support it every step of the way.
As Tidy Tails continues to grow, Christina remains focused on what matters most: providing a stress-free, high-quality grooming experience for every dog that walks through the door. For her, success isn’t just measured in bookings or revenue—it’s measured in wagging tails, happy pets, and the trust of the community she serves.
