Say hello to our newest veterinarian, Dr. Collins! 🩺🐾
She’s passionate about internal medicine, oncology, and dermatology—and loves helping pets live their healthiest lives.

Dr. Collins earned her Biology degree from Iowa State and her DVM from the University of Illinois before completing a specialty internship and working in both urgent care and general practice.

When she’s not caring for pets, she’s out exploring Colorado with her partner and their four dogs—Duke, Gus, Scout, and Winston! 🐶💙

We’re so excited to have her on the RRAC team!

🎓 August Pet Tip from Red Rocks Animal Center: Beat the Heat! ☀️🐾

Summer isn’t over yet, and that means higher temps and more outdoor adventures! But did you know pets can overheat much faster than humans?

Here are a few tips to keep your furry friend safe in the August heat:

🌡️ Avoid Midday Walks – Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler.
💧 Hydration is Key – Always have fresh, cool water available at home and on the go.
🐾 Check the Pavement – Hot pavement can burn paw pads! Use the 5-second rule: if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws.
🚗 Never Leave Pets in the Car – Even with windows cracked, temperatures can rise dangerously fast.
🐕‍🦺 Know the Signs of Heatstroke: Excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting. If you notice these signs, call us immediately.
