🧹🧴 If you store cleaning supplies and medicines in your hallway or bathroom closets, beware!

🚫 These items can be HAZARDOUS to your furry friends if they accidentally ingest them. But, even worse, if you have rodenticides in these closets, your pets may be at risk of serious health issues.

🐾πŸ₯©πŸ₯¦ When it comes to your pet's health, diet is everything. After evaluating your pet's body condition score, take a closer look at what they're eating.

Are they getting the right balance of high-quality ingredients like lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats? Or do they indulge in a diet of sugary snacks and junk food? πŸ«πŸ”πŸŸ

🐢🐱 Even small treats can add up quickly and provide little to no nutritional value. It's important to take an honest look at your pet's diet and make adjustments if needed.

And don't worry, choosing the appropriate diet for your pet can be challenging, but we're here to help. Call (303) 985-7112 to talk to your veterinarian.

Your pet might feel nervous during their veterinary exam as all the poking and prodding might make them feel like they're under attack. These techniques help the vet gain valuable information about your furry friend's health.

From checking their heart, lungs, abdomen, eyes, ears, and mouth, it's essential to keep up with these regular exams. To help your pet feel more comfortable with being examined, practice examinations at home and pair them with plenty of treats and encouragement.

Identifying and eliminating your pet’s trigger is an effective way to reduce excessive barking. To do this, observe your pet’s behavior and determine what environmental stimuli prompt them to bark.

Then, try to change or eliminate the trigger. For example, if your dog barks at people walking by your house, consider blocking their visual access to the window or door, or move their bed to another room.

Similarly, if your dog barks at the sound of the doorbell, try placing a sign on your door asking visitors to text instead of ringing the bell. By eliminating or changing the trigger, you can help your pet feel calmer and reduce their barking.

🦟 Beware cat owners! Even though cats are atypical hosts for heartworms, they can still cause major health issues.

Within 75 to 90 days after a cat is bitten by an infected mosquito, heartworm larvae can reach the pulmonary arteries, resulting in heartworm-associated respiratory disease (HARD). Signs of HARD include coughing, increased respiratory effort, and vomiting that resemble feline asthma. In some cases, heartworms can mature to adulthood, which can be fatal for cats with smaller hearts.

Providing year-round heartworm prevention is an important part of your pet’s health care plan. If you would like to discuss the various preventives, contact our team by calling (303) 985-7112, so we can determine what protocol would best fit you and your pet’s lifestyle.

🌱🐾 Pet owners, before letting your furry friend play outside, make sure you do a little pet-proofing!

πŸ‘€ Lawns and gardens can be hazardous if they've been fertilized or sprayed with pesticides, or if garden additives have been used. Make sure to choose pet-safe products and keep curious pets from ingesting fertilizers or repellents.

🚫 Also, watch out for toxic plants like lilies, azaleas, sago palms, and tulips. Monitor your pets while outside or transplant these plants to a safer area.πŸ‘Œ
